The ads are SO annoying, and crop up constantly

If you completely power off the device, then plug it into the charger, the device will turn itself on and show you a lovely ad on the lock screen, and the screen will not turn itself back off unless you do it manually.

This is the ad-free version of this device

but it does have ads/commercials at the beginning and not as friendly with Office 365 as an iPad.

Their first scam is you have to PAY A FEE to NOT have ads/commercial pop up when you startup because everyone just doesn't get enough ads.

You have to pay an extra $15 to remove the ads on lock screen or complain with Amazon CS until they remove it for free

Over the last year the special offers have gone from a simple static ad on the lock screen to today, a combination ad on the locm screen then downloads and opens video advertisement for TV or other item

If you really hate the ads you can always change that feature later on for a fee

If you want to truly power this thing off, FIRST plug it into the charger, then power it off; it will stay off, unless you have a power outage (too frequent an occurrence around here)--in which case it will power itself back on when your electricity is restored and show another lovely ad until you manually turn the screen off
