Reviews around banjo (5.00 of 5)

  • I, on the other hand, didn't and had to relocate the banjo's top rimrod and modify the pickup mounting bracket just to get it to clear the banjo's head
  • So much better than the K&k banjo twin, which made my $2,000+ banjo sound like a $50 banjo
  • Easily the best banjo pickup I've ever ran across

Reviews around installation (5.00 of 5)

  • I was hoping to be able to install it myself, but when they say they recommend professional installation, they're not kidding - it was beyond the scope of my knowledge and the tools I have, so I had it done at a local shop
  • Installation is tough, there are no instructions in the box, you have to hunt for them online.

  • I thought buying it directly to Fishman would guarantee a good deal

Reviews around quality (5.00 of 5)

  • but unfortunately that is it's best quality
  • I agree that attaching this type of pickup is awkward at best, but the quality of the sound is excellent for a pickup at this price (you really need a high quality microphone for true sound reproduction, which has its own issues).

Reviews around instrument (5.00 of 5)

  • Pair this with a Fishman Platinum DI or L.R. Baggs & you have a banjo pick that makes your acoustic instrument sound like one, even in large venues
  • I got it because mounting does not damage the instrument, and it's easy to move between my violin and viola

Reviews around violin (5.00 of 5)

  • , I'd just get a solid body electric violin
  • But I found that when used in conjunction with a mute I got a nice electric violin sound, and that I got a very smooth and pleasing sound running it into a Fender tube amp, whereas cheap SS guitar amps brought out the worst

  • I love the pre amp, which I still use
  • However in most situations where you'd need serious amplification the venue would already be set up with a good pre-amp, so it shouldn't really be an issue unless you plan on doing home-recording
