The paper that you are punching needs to be somewhat stiff, these do not punch tissue paper or old newspaper/comic book paper well.

Best paper puncher, doesn't jam, easy on your hands!

I don't know of a good brand that can punch thinner paper.

Like this one much better than the punch I bought at Michael's- it actually makes the cut clean all the way around, even on flimsy magazine paper.

I wanted to use two hands to stabilize the paper for precision (because of the awkward sideways position), but when I let go, the paper would slide around.

I assure you, it does not work at all on 65lb cardstock as that is exactly what I had and all it did was dent the paper and put a few random cuts in it.

So if you're hoping to punch your paper towards the center of your project, or perhaps as a way for your project to hang, it cuts the circle too close to the edge
