While some devices allow you to switch out your own battery, use non-proprietary chargers, etc., Fitbit clearly refuses to play ball and not let you "look at the man behind the curtain" either because of shoddy workmanship and a plan to make sure that the next 10 watches that you buy are Fitbits.

Do yourself a favor and peruse Fitbit’s support forums to discover that this has been a long ongoing problem among many users
