Amazing unit, very reliable

The Sapphire Pro 40 is a clean sounding unit, and works great for my setup with Logic Pro, and my Mac Pro(original 1,1)

The unit is amazing, solidly built and basically completely transparent.

The unit itself is very quiet and doesn't get in your way at all

And with that I can get the last 6 channels of my 01v96 into a DAW as well via ADAT.So for what I do its extremely versatile and well performing unit

Unit crapped out and would not power up again.

Great firewire interface recording unit.

This unit stopped working after a few uses

The preamps are very good and better than other units I tried

All that being said, after I got my head around the firewire issue, crude design implementation, and the very occasional freezing, the unit works pretty well

The Pro 40 unit refused to connect to my PC which was a custom built quad-core

I realize this unit is no longer available (shocking) but my intent is to potentially save you headache if you are considering buying one on the used market

I upgraded to the Focusrite Pro 40 from the M-audio Delta 66 (which by the way, was a bullet proof solid little unit that I used for about 8 years).As of right now, I couldn't be happier with my decision to upgrade to the Focusrite.

I believe this is a good unit for a beginner because there is enough functionality to grow into, and enough versatility to keep you interested in the unit for years to come

OK, so I just use a direct box, but shouldn't have to, switching should be overriding XLR?Would buy it again though - great unit for the price - about as good as you can do without spending a substantial amount more

So, I'm quite happy with it and recommend the unit.

and I would recommend this unit to anyone that is considering an outboard sound processing unit.

With the Sapphire Pro 40, you just sit down to work the next day and the unit is working fine!!Overall very very pleased with the Focusrite Brand thus far.

The unit also works when not connected to a computer
