My laptop which is less than a year old would not recognize it or find available interface software for it.

It comes with free software, but it was too complex for what i need.

You are directed to download Gigabytes of different software programs, various "legendary software plug ins" and register with around three different other sites to start recording music on your computer

I still encourage you to check out this product due to the free samples and software - high quality/durability - and ease of setup

If you want to download the additional software included for Ableton Live Lite then you will need to register your product, which you should do anyway irrespective of the free software

There is nothing in their ad or amazon's ad that suggests the software is currently not available

its a very powerful software (make sure you have room on hard drive and good memory).

To Focusrite: put the damn software in the box!

False advertisement if you ask me, as they are trying to market it like you get the software when in reality you don't. to be clear though I am not dogging the Scarlett Solo, that is a great product, and if you are looking for an affordable pre amp this one is a good option

Works out of the box on my Win, Mac and Linux boxes as simple plug and play (did download Win drivers as in the instructions though)
