UP to get any sound out of the SHURE mics, which then led to distorted sound

The Focusrite Scarlett is a nice, simple and clean-sounding USB mic interface and I recommend it, as an old standby that's been lightly updated to stay technologically current

As you can tell it is super versatile, taking in either two mics (with great sounding mic preamps I might add), or plugging in directly with a guitar (The unit will take XLR or ¼“ instrument cables).

I don't have a huge budget and I've gotten good sound from my setup with an Audio Technica 2035 and a $15 cable.

It's the sound that counts, and the Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) shines in that department, and provides plenty of phantom power for guitars and vocals.

The preamp is really good very natural sounding, build quality rock solid kinda wish they continue with making all the knobs metal but not a big deal
