It's light and compact enough to fit into my small backpack style handbag, and I use it at the movies, theatre shows, long dinners and so on.

Could be a little lower for me, and a little lighter, but it's certainly strong enough.

I am a short person with back problems and this was a life-saver as I no longer had to sit on my legs to keep them from hanging freely or prop my feet on my under-the-seat luggage.
