I was looking for a compact interchangeable lens system that would allow me to take a wide range of pictures and yet be lightweight.

This lens is a monster.

With the excellent collection of primes that Fuji has released, as well as the SURPRISINGLY excellent 18-55mm "kit" lens (that's nicer than any DX zoom offered, with the possible exception of the 17-55, but that's debatable), I've had no need for any of my Nikon gear - and the X-T1 is an absolute joy to use, in every way.

Bad continuous focus, one of the announced improvements, at least with the 35mm f/1.4 with latest firmware 3.10 (I believe that the lens is to blame in this issue): To give an idea, I made a test in an ideal and easy focusing situation: Camera mounted on a tripod set on continuous focus on a static/contrasty object with everything on the same plane (a wall with dark/light paintings) on daylight an easy focusing subject the focus is always moving back and forth, it never stops

but it's simply far inferior to a good mechanical focus lens, and not in keeping with the "retro thinking" and design of their other bodies

Only thing lacking for me is a 1:1 macro lens and Fuji just announced one is coming in 2016

nice for trip/ very much doing the job of a DSLR without the weight and bulky lens.

Great camera and lens

My next purchase will be a FAST lens, most likely the 35 f1.4 since it seems to be the best compromise for performance, size and price.

I've also used a UV filter to protect the lens.

It would have been better if I had a faster lens especially for moments where the lights were dimmed.

Overall this lens isn't as good as a Canon or Nikon stock lens and should be probably priced lower to match its performance

I have paired it with a Zeiss 12mm, which is a tack sharp, and beautifully wide lens

I would however love to see a fuji AF enabled fast 90mm lens

I would recommend a wider prime lens

(I'm waiting on prime lens)The auto focus is FAST, the lens (18-55 kit) is solid and smooth with very good image quality

So much so that I've added what I would call my "bread and butter" lens...the awesome Fujinon 16-55mm f/2.8 lens.

You can get a very fast lens (f1.4 or even better) that performs amazingly, even very strong to the edge of the image wide open and for a reasonable price.+ This camera produces wonderfully sharp images.

It's not to say that, if you are doing professional sports photography for a living that you will necessarily want to trade that $6,000 Canon body with it's $10,000 lens capable of taking images at 400mm with an aperture of F/2: you won't, because the Fuji camera will not be able to keep up with this (but remember, you'll have to dole out that amount of cash, you'll have to use a tripod the size of Mt. Vesuvius to use the equipment, and then make weekly gym work outs in order to carry the equipment around)

So at least finally I can use this great and cheap lens.==== ORIGINAL

This lens is fast enough (f/4 at 55mm) to use as a full-time dedicated lens for most purposes

There are a substantial number of lens available that are not sky high in price

The auto focus is blazingly fast, and the "kit" lens that it came with puts the competition to shame

I still preferred how it handled, and the excellent lens quality of the 35mm F1.4 as well as the light 18mm F2, but it couldn't always keep up.

I also do not recommend the pancake lens I originally bought, it has chromatic abberation.

I got the camera with the 18-55 kit lens, and it is an amazing lens

Every lens that I have purchased is incredibly sharp.

The 18-55 is a high quality impressive lens both in specifications and practical application.

For now, I'd rather have a fast lens than a better flash unit

Any lens you use on it will be stabilized

but it was still surprisingly heavy with the smallish zoom lens that was with it.

This is one fast lens!

While the above cons are real and unfortunate, they are not enough to detract from the general awesomeness of the camera; and coupled with the fact that the system itself has some of the best lens choices at attractive price points - obviously a highly recommended product and one I will be keeping for sure

Great photos and excellent 18-13mm lens

The entire Fujifilm line of cameras, as well as the Fujinon lenses (yes, the cameras are called "FujiFILM" even though most Fuji cameras do not use film, and the lenses are called "FujiNON;" the entire imaging division is a part of the larger company, Fuji Heavy Industries) seem simply to rack up one stellar review after another, and this ranges all the way from the entry level X-A1 camera (which knocks out some superlative photos in spite of being a cheap-o camera with a cheap-o kit lens) all the way to XPro1 and X-T1 models, which are much more expensive, and aimed at a different audience

Currently my lineup includes the 18-55 (best kit lens ever made period) the 35mm f/1.4, and the 14mm f/2.8

When combined with several of the Fuji lenses, I have been very happy with the IQ - especially with the fantastic 56mm/f1.2 lens.

(Except there's no point because Fuji's 56/1.2 is the best lens in existence at that focal length.

I want and is lightweight but have a fast lens, even a fixed fast lens

Now, the camera has the ability to shoot as fast as 1/32000 seconds using the electronic shutter, meaning that portraits with the excellent 56mm lens can be taken at f/1.2 in broad daylight without the use of an ND filter

Yes, I'm now looking for one more (faster) lens to add to my Fuji system.

Additional;I strongly recommend the use of a protective lens filter or UV filter (I've used the B+W 58mm XS-Pro Clear UV Haze with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating) and an LCD screen protector to save the the screen from scratches--I've used the ExpertShield available on AMZ for about $11Overall: very happy with the fujifilm camera despite the minor incident.

this continues to be my favorite APC-S camera of all I have bought recently and will remain in my collection.
