Load up on microfiber cloths also as you don't want to scratch the glass.

Scratched glass probably won't be fixable too easily, but I suspect most people with streaks just have grime they need to clean off

Obviously, avoid putting in anything with sharp objects (like staples) that may scratch the glass rather than just griming it up

Although I wouldn't call it an intuitive device (it doesn't work as you think it does - you have to read the manual!), it's a great scanner.
