Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC

    • Although it is good for a quick scan in Linux, I plan to still use my methods described above for big projects that require hundreds of pages, inserting/deleting pages, pausing for the occasional scanner jam, and so forth; I like the bundled ScanSnap and Acrobat software that runs in Windows, which has been very useful.
    • The care that went into manufacturing this scanner, securing the software rights from Adobe, then selecting the price-point must have been considerable
    • If I didn't tell you which scanner hardware was hiding behind each scanner, and I just asked you to rate the software experience with each software package, I'm confident you'd easily say the ScanSnap had the better software.
    • Other things to note:I've steered away from such horrific software as Microsoft's "Essentials" search addon and Adobe's Acrobat suite
    • The included software is okay, but not great.
    • The processing time for documents is quite fast and the software is very user friendly.
    • Very fast, simple great software included
    • I actually expected some crazy software with buttons in strange places and options that wouldn't make sense
    • Snapscan S1500 Great scanner and software.

    • Software instantly crashed my computer as of today computer does not act right
    • The software is easy to use.
    • However, having said that I believe the software should work just fine with Microsoft outlook
    • Also the software doesn't slow down your computer like flatbed scanners
    • All of the bad this scanner has (ie: No TWAIN software, a lot of proprietary software, etc...) has now been taken care of.
    • Also may have been fixed as I haven't seen this error in the last month, but ScanSnap software used to hang up in the middle of a scan once an hour, which would also require a restart
    • It looks as if the software from Fujitsu is just as buggy
    • The point is that the software is very flexible in creating the folders and cabinets you need
    • The document feeding is incredible, the speed is great, the file management is good, the file sizes are appropriate, and the software is great
    • The small foot print and great software sold me.
    • Small and solid, software fairly good after set-up
    • The software is user friendly and works well with windows 64bit
    • Great Hardware, the software that comes with it can be a little bit confusing at first, but great great scanner.
    • This machine is not only reliable, but the included Acrobat 9 software alone is worth the price.
    • The software is a bit awkward to use for some tasks, though I haven't bothered to read up on how to use the ScanSnap software nor the Adobe Acrobat software.
    • Software is great, it will recognize blank pages and re-orient the page to the correct way
    • Includes valuable Acrobat software.

    • In addition, ScanSnap's intelligent software does many things to make this kind of scanning efficient
    • The included software is pretty good
    • In the mean time, other scanners I bought during this period have long perished or were just not as good in functionality (paper jams, terrible software etc.).
    • Unfortunately I find myself today looking into costly 3rd party software to try and automatically sort the OCRed documents that are saved from the ScanSnap
    • Software is very easy to use and setup.
    • Flat bed scanners are junk, the software is sluggish and and after being burnt on two of those I will never go back
    • Good hardware, good software
    • Be thankful that Fujitsu kept their costs (and prices) down by making a hard choice, rather than pulling a Microsoft and screwing us because they don't know how to write secure software!Keep in mind that I've only had this unit two weeks
    • The software that comes with it is simplistic and I have established a process that works with it
    • Software is difficult to use.
    • The real reason the scanner does not have a twain driver is to force the user to purchase the proprietary software.
    • Their newest software is fantastic.
    • The included software is actually pretty good, allowing you to great folders in the software that are then created on the hd and makes browsing via windows explorer easy later on
    • and then the SnapScan software asks you how you would like to save the file (or there are a number of options)
    • (VirtualBox is free software that allows you to run any number of operating systems from within another operating system; so when I run Linux, I can run another OS from within that.

    • The software it comes with is great

    • The only thing saving this from a 1-star review is that scan quality is quite good, and other than the aforementioned inability to append, the software is mostly solid
    • The software that comes with it is very intuitive, I haven't really read the directions yet.
    • The software with the scan snap is not as veritable as some of the more expensive units but it will do.
    • Good software.
    • My preference whenever possible is to install minimal proprietary software and use the stuff built into Windows and my image processing software.2
    • Software is good
    • This is blazing fast and the software is so easy to use
    • The software is user friendly and easy to install
    • The software that comes with it is easy and smooth to use unlike the stuff that's often bundled with hardware
    • The software is very intuitive and quite powerful.
    • The software may not be as elegant as the Neat Scanner "advertises" but overall, there is a great support system where many tips and tricks can be obtained
    • Not only has the hardware worked like a charm, but the software is amazing as well
    • Xerox has a very buggy OneTouch software
    • The software works well, and provides an intuitive interface for the device
    • Haven't had much luck with OCR, but that seems to be a lack of good OCR software for Linux, not a fault of the scanner.
    • Software Is very friendly , i have not problem using them.scan quality goodCons:Not able to scan color photograph very well , the problem is " keep getting scan lines", especially background is dark black.
    • The Windows version of this scanner comes with wonderful software called ScanSnap Organizer, which makes it really easy to batch scan a bunch of different papers (e.g. bank statements, utility bills, receipts etc) and then later on put them into folders or whatever you want to do to organize things.
    • The scanning software is easy to use and has a lot of options.
    • They're easy to use, have great software, impressive speed, and great image quality
    • The Fujitsu works easily, I like the propriaty software that comes with it
    • Small footprint, fast with excellent two side scan capability, superior software compatibility and user interface is tops
    • Both work great and have an excellent software bundle to support them.
    • Still poor software though
    • this scanner has great software, reasonably fast and is easy to use.
    • However, the simple work around is to scan to file and then attach/import the file into your favorite software.
    • I lover the automatic duplex scanning, the auto color detection and the great software (Adobe Acrobat 9) that comes with it
    • Haven't tried every feature, yet, but the software so far has worked.
    • Software is user friendly on PC or Mac3
    • I did not feel as if I were in a huge learning curve to use the scanner or the software, however, I do feel that the software could be a little more intuitive.
    • The ScanSnap is a highly polished software and hardware combination that just works.
    • and the software is easy and it organizes in one easy place for me to move around.
    • The software is not that intuitive, although you can do everything with your document with it
    • I would have rated this 5 star's except I would like to see it support the TWAIN protocol which would allow it to inter-operate with non-proprietary scanning software.
    • The software is intuitive and easy to navigate.
    • The software is very limited, but don't let that deter you from purchasing this if you are looking for a great scanner.
    • The organizational software is very user friendly and efficient.
    • Great software
    • In short, the reason is bad Epson software and horrendously, awful, incompetent support from Epson, while Fujitsu gets it right in both categories.
    • I tried a Neat scanner and hated the clumsy file system software that came with it.
    • I haven't quite mastered the software yet, but I've been scanning and faxing documents from my notebook.
    • PDF scanning software works quite well
    • It is easy to install, fast to scan, and the software is good to archive and file all documents.
    • , of course, it shouldn't be a surprise to me that the software is so dumb.
    • The software is also quite good
    • It is almost impossible to use the scanner in an office environment without using their proprietary software.
    • In a few ways the software is less intuitive than the HP but once our people are trained they haven't had any problems
    • The software which comes with the unit is good (not great) but I have little to compare it with.
    • Now I can scan within Windows with the Windows drivers, which also allows me to use the excellent organization software and Adobe Acrobat, but still do my non-scanning work within Linux, my preferred environment, all on one physical computer
    • The software that comes with it also allows you to scan documents directly to e-mail, directly to the printer, to Microsoft Word using OCR (optical character recognition), Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or to any folder on your hard drive
    • I have tried all of the solutions in their KB without success (with is basically reinstalling the software, killed that device in the USB area, etc.).So, great scanner, but it has software issues with are the type you usually can't diagnose...

    • Scansnap software works very well on Win7
    • Further, the device loaded my computer with a ton of unnecessary software, and there was no option to install just part of the package
    • When I do, the software is intuitive enough that it really isn't a big deal, and is easy to readjust the pages and continue my work.
    • The software is excellent and has several features
    • In any event - in spite of how bad the software is and how many times the scanner jambs or malfunctions - I am using it to get things done.
    • The software works and allows you to organize and store
    • The scanning software for business cards doesn't work very well.

    • The associated software is very helpful and intuitive
    • The software is great too
    • The software works
    • I never even tried to use the scanner because nothing is any good without the appropriate software
    • It's better the Neat only because in my opinion the software is easier and the back up is easier to pull up.
    • No software issues, which is a great plus
    • improved software
    • (software could use a boost - ie joining 2 pdfs
    • Only one button, but with excellent software that allows you to determine exactly how your computer should handle the scan
    • The software is great too
    • I have the Neat portable scanner and software which has worked great - but needed something that had a sheet feed
    • I debated, and read reviews in several places, before settling on this scanner, without the more expensive software package
    • Highly advise this purchase, and comes with really good software
    • In addition, it takes up a small foot print, it was simple to set up and has good customization software for scanning typical documents (invoices, bills, business licenses, etc.

    • earlier stated I liked the software, the OCR, the ease of use, and the small size but had problems with it jamming when scanning large volumes
    • The best is the software, which installs an error message which makes it impossible to use the product: an announcement that I cannot use the MANAGER as long as the QUICK MENU is being utilized
    • Software allows a number of options that assist in organizing scans
    • And the ScanSnap software works very well for importing into Evernote.
    • And the ScanSnap software works very well for importing into Evernote.
    • (I wouldn't need this if I was all that organized), and found that the $100 Speedy Organizer software won't install on my PC
    • The software--both ScanSnap Manager and ScanSnap Organizer--work exceptionally well for my needs, and the Organizer includes the ability to do simple edits on the scanned docs before you save them away
    • The software is terrible
    • The software which comes with the unit is good (not great) but I have little to compare it with.
    • The software is easy and does exactly what it is intended to do.
    • The included software is excellent
    • The included software does the job well enough, but a scanner at this price range should not be restricted to proprietary software
    • To start a scan, you just press a great big button--no software clicking to negotiate through; a time saver
    • The software that it comes with is "smart" in that it allows you to save profiles universally or for custom users, which is extremely helpful in my customers' smaller domain environments.
    • If there is a misfeed somehow, the software is smart enough to show you the last page that scanned correctly, and this helps you know where to start again
    • I went to their website & downloaded new software but nothing worked
    • It does a wonderful t job of just being simple and functional
    • Although I wouldn't call it an intuitive device (it doesn't work as you think it does - you have to read the manual!), it's a great scanner.
    • We bought this product for my small business to remove all the paper from the office and its really working as it scans very fax and with excellent quality.
    • Small footprint too - really fast, quiet and doesn't hog resources on the PC and the software works as it is designed.
    • They never returned calls or made update contact as they promised
    • The integration of the control panel and filer application isn't as clean as it ought to be.
    • Software instantly crashed my computer as of today computer does not act right
