No, an adult couldn't sit on this, but it's meant for a modern LCD TV and related AV equipment

This is a great inexpensive TV stand that was purchased for my teenage sons room.

I am not worried about it falling over and ruining my TV, but my 32" flat screen is sitting better on it than I thought it would.

Do not put an expensive tv on top of this - doubt it would last long.

It would probably take a rubber mallet and some solid hammering to get the top part down, but since I'm using it for planters and not an expensive TV, I'm fine with not putting in the effort to do that.
