Better than cracking the screen, yes, but the last protector I had lasted several yrs before a hard drop cracked it.

Cannot speak to the durability yet, as I've only had it on my phone for a week and am using in conjunction with an Otter Commuter phone cover which is a little less "beefy" than some others, but even if the screen protector does end up cracking when dropped, that's still better than my S7 screen cracking.
