I'd guess that the pod is useful for people who have a GPS watch, and who run unknown distances

It is extremely handy in situations where there is weak or frequently interrupted satellite reception (trees, tunnels, overhead structures) and you still want accurate distance.

Perfect for getting accurate distances when on a treadmill, also great for tracking cadence.

Not a big deal for a short run, but it certainly adds up over a greater distance.

It is accurate for both speed work as well as long distance

It isn't very useful for those that run or walk outdoors since GPS handles the distance calculations, but it would be of significant benefit for those with indoor walking and running exercise since the steps can be calibrated to produce quasi-accurate distance measurements

I also use it on the treadmill for cadence and the distance is more accurate (I think) than the treadmill distance because it appears to take my stride length into account.

I purchased this exclusively to track indoor distance during the winter months and simplifying data entry for an online service (Strava) that I use to track activities.
