I would have liked more padding, but its adequate and my GPSr units are chosen because they're water proof and impact resistant.

It protects the Montana GPS in a thin fleece lined case that doesn't add unnecessary bulk or volume, the padding is just right.

It offers good padding & protection for the Garmin unit, but note that it is primarily a travel case.

The padding is certainly think and soft enough to prevent scrapes and scratches from casual contact and dropping.

Thin padding may help for a drop, but not secure enough for serious protection.
