As far as GPS goes I feel a Garmin is top of the line

Add the other sensors, and garmin's ecosystem for serious work out freaks, and you cant beat this thing.

I've owned a Garmin smart watch before but a few years ago i switch to Fitbit.

I'd look at Polar, Sunnuto, or even Wahoo's new watch before going back to Garmin devices that promise things that just don't work.

i have a used Garmin Vivoactive 3 which i liked, wanted to buy a new watch

As expected, it does not do a very good job of tracking sleep, but what disappoints me the most is that its pulse monitoring is not even as accurate as my 20 year old Garmin Forerunner, which served me reliably and accurately for nearly two decades, regardless of the level or degree of the intensity of my activity.

faces - the cute ones from the previous watch are not available; the music control is misleading as I can no longer control my music apps from my watch (?!?!?!?!)

Of course, the window to return the item has passed, but I would not recommend I'd you're looking to use the swim feature.
