I read complaints about the smell and did notice a strong plastic smell right out of the package.

I requested for a product exchange because the package looked like it had already been opened when it's delivered and there was a very strong burnt smell

The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is that, once we took the Travelmate out of the box, there was a strong smell of rubber or something coming off the wheels that never went away, despite leaving it outside for a few days before our trip and once we got to our destination.
