GoPro Smart Remote (GoPro Official Accessory)

    • With the remote in use, both batteries die in hours.
    • Only negatives are it drains the battery faster and doesn't work underwater.
    • 1 word of caution both app and remote run on wifi system and will drain the GoPro battery.
    • BUT, the battery on it is absolutely terrible
    • BUT, it does drain the battery on the remote and the camera badly when using it
    • The only downside is a pitiful battery life
    • Combine a non-intuitive user interface, the inability to relaibly connect with my Hero 6, unpredictable battery life, a funky atypical charging cable, a form factor that is awkward, and the fact that camera remotes are not hard
    • Great product, works well but drains the battery quickly
    • no way to remove the battery to clear the screen.
    • Advertised as used smart remote but the seller sent me an older wifi remote which has fewer functions, no settings button, 40% shorter battery life and water resistance only to 3ft
    • Have to return this one, stopped opening up to see the screen, maybe defective battery
    • Everything gopro makes seems to have truly lousy battery life, so now I'm hardwiring them in the car
    • BUT, it does drain the battery on the remote and the camera badly when using it

    • After charging all night the remote's battery was dead by the time I got to the river.
    • but the wifi drains the battery down a little faster than if not using wifi
    • The resultant rapid battery drain is counterintuitive for the concept of remote control
    • I'm content with the GoPro smart remote however, i find it lackluster that the remote does not automatically shut itself down after being idle for a preconfigured amount of time, which in turn, drains the battery
    • Battery is honestly really bad
    • I used the remote this summer on a handful of fishing and kayaking trips and it seemed to work fine however it will drain your GoPro battery quickly.

    • Terrible battery life
    • Mine connects fine and seems to stay connected, but it requires the remote to be on (no power saving mode) and connected to the camera at all times, which drains the battery in both devices in about 1-1.5 hours.
    • If this is not done the battery can start draining automatically in some cases, depending on the charging source
    • It works great, it just eats up the battery on both devices quick
    • Battery dies after an hour.
    • Only down side is using this remote wastes the battery on the camera
    • Good battery life
    • but the wifi drains the battery down a little faster than if not using wifi
    • I use this on my motorcycle handlebars.. works great, decent battery life, charging cable is kind of funky though, if you lose the cable, you'll have to order a new one since it's non-standar.
    • The only drawback is that it does seem to drain the battery a bit faster since the two devices are constantly connected, but they were generally able to have it last most of their rides during the day.
    • works great, but kills your battery
    • The older model s battery would go bad and nothing you can do but support gopro, unlike their support
    • The wifi drains the battery very fast when it is connected to the camera
    • Battery died within a week and is not replaceable
    • I dig the platform, but when you have to focus on a dumb battery issue on a remote- kinda kills your shot opportunity
    • , battery doesnt last long... overall happy with it
    • By the time it works, either the battery of the GoPro dies or the remote dies.
    • The battery life is terrible, I took 30 photos and the battery was drained .
    • Drains your hero battery way too fast
    • I'm not sure how long the rechargeable battery lasts but using it means that the camera needs to be in REMOTE MODE which is going to drain the battery in the camera
    • I don't think I've ever actually been able to use this because every time I need it the battery on it is dead.
    • works beter than the phone control, great with a selfie stick and tripod as well as when it is on the bow of the boat!!!
