It's not a heat issue, it's barely warm to the touch, volume is under half and the speakers are not hard to drive

I highly recommend this unit if you have a pair of nice speakers

However, the ROM on my main android device doesn't support aptx but only a2dp - on good speakers, it's obvious that you're not hearing what you might.

I’m using some fairly efficient speakers.

I can't report on the quality of the analog inputs as I am only using bluetooth or the analog outputs as I have only passive speakers connected using the regular speaker terminals

It does not have as much power as I would like for my old school, ADS, floor model speakers.
