• Reviews around car (2.51 of 5)

    Grand Theft Auto IV

    • It's mainly the subtle details though such as people now put their blinkers on, cars are damaged in real time now with realistic physics so half broken fenders and bumpers sway as you turn the car, the paint can get scraped up, crowd AI is more efficient (yet not by much), better enemy AI (still not by much), further draw distance, everything has high-res textures, bump mapping and the whole next-gen works
    • The driving has also been improved, making the cars feel more realistic and the damage to cars is incredibly detailed.
    • The cars themselves always kinda look the same as well as drive the same which sucks cause if you want a fast car that's not going to happen and turning in sharp corners is hell making races stupid and not fun at all
    • smooth play, sick cars, hot women, and mad gameplay
    • The cars look decent for the current gaming generation
    • Crappy car handling, minor control issues, online lags more than it should, nothing earth
    • You try to put the brakes on and your car will slide and slide and you'll miss your turn, and the same goes for the handbrake
    • If you damage any part of your car, the car will be affected realistically.
    • But the cars are difficult to control around corners
    • You play a character named Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant whose cousin lures him to Liberty City with stories of big houses, beautiful women, and fancy cars
    • Sure you can still steal any car, run over people, shoot people, beat them up, but the game just falls flat on its face when it comes to heritage
    • In addition to stealing cars and causing general mayhem, you can also go on dates, surf the internet, watch TV, buy new duds, go bowling with friends, shoot pool, play darts, eat hot dogs from a vendor cart, wash the blood off your new Inferno, pimp out your cell phone, and even get drunk.
    • a magic showAccidentally ran my car into the river and survived!!!Now guess which ones were in a mission and not!I am going to start off some of the cons of the game and get it over with because while expectations are high, let's bring it down a few notches and make sure people don't get too overly hyped about the game.- display issues: I am not sure what happened
    • I want to steal cars, run over pedestrians, and shoot police officers
    • All the cars, restaurants, women, missions, freedom, is all so much fun
    • It's like every car weighs 4 tons and has soap all over the tires
    • I can steal any car, but can't get into any building or break any window...just odd.
    • Then there are Brucie's and Stevie's "steal this car for me" missions... which obviously don't stray far from standard "Grand Theft Auto" game play
    • Crappy cars will have squeaky breaks, fast cars will have monstrous engines, pedestrians will talk to eachother, pigeons coo, grenades explode, cars crash, sirens wail, and on and on.
    • Realistic car handling/better "dash view".
    • or so I realized just how awesome the car mechanics were.
    • and all I had done is drive all over hell's half acre, stole some cars, got into some fights and took some chick out on a date
    • If they designed a game in which your only objective was to kill the average joe, every car would probably be fast or dangerous
    • There are some great hidden secrets, and some awesome hidden cars
    • In this game, apparently you have to drive like a grandma, otherwise you will flip your car and or crash into walls, objects, pedestrians, and who knows what else.
    • It is hard to tell which cars are better, as appearance doesn't always suggest driving style
    • It's easy to get distracted jacking boats, cars, and helicopters
    • The result is a game that continues to surprise you and stay fresh long after you've stolen enough cars to fill an airport parking lot
    • , weapon cycling is difficult in a firefightGraphics 6/10 - great visuals on the city, very realistic / cars and other moving object look ok / people and clothes look slightly better than old xbox games rough facial featuresStory 8/10 - very good story, considerably different from previous games, a lot of thought put in here------------------------------------------------------------------------------Critical ReviewGrand Theft Auto IV is a game that was years in the making
    • the bad cars have bad handling and the good cars have good handling.
    • The cars in this game seem much more difficult to control, was this done for realism sake, I am not sure
    • one example is having to steal a cop car, then proceed to pull over different shipping trucks until you find the one full of TV's.gameplay is vastly improved
    • In one instance I stole someones car and as I got in the car, the person who I stole the car from grabbed the door handle trying to re-enter his car.
    • Jacking cars has had cool animations like the times where I demolished my vehicle and it wouldn't start and Niko would scream "Start you turd
    • The Comet and Turismo are a couple of the top end cars which very closely resemble some German and Italian carmakers
    • You end up stealing cars all the time (which is too easy to get away with), while the game doesn't want to remember the car that you are driving
    • (example: hiding in ally ways, ducking behind corners, staying in the dark at night to elude the spotlight)More realistic way of stealing cars (example: breaking windows, car alarms going off, hotwiring)Great city, great game.
    • Also stealing a car is a much more involved and slow process here, taking some fun out of it
    • A greatly detailed and gigantic map, plenty of great cars, and a pretty easy to use interface
    • My friends said there were hot rods, and it turned out to be muscle cars, which I love, but I wanted multiplayer free roam with 49 Mercury or Chevy, pickups, and other things, not just a Charger, which I am not so fond of compared to pickups or Chevelles, but still a great game for the multiplayer activities and shinanigans you can get into by blowing up friends when they have their favorite cars with an RPG.
    • It's never too late to find paradise, but how far and what decisions have to be made to justify this?Just like previous GTA's before it you can steal cars, evade cops, go on hot pursuits and even spend some leisure time in the New York based city
    • DOODOO.The driving system in this game seems to be that every car you get into immediately has buttery tires and gains a thousand pounds, as just going 10-20 miles an hour makes clean, tight turns a physical impossibility.
    • It is hard for me to criticize a game about stealing cars for asking me to steal cars
    • the bad cars have bad handling and the good cars have good handling.
    • The result is a game that continues to surprise you and stay fresh long after you've stolen enough cars to fill an airport parking lot
    • Stealing certain cars for Stevie
    • And now you can steal any car anywhere
    • u can blow up cars with bombs ectcon
    • A recommendation: keep good care of the Comet you get after your first race with Brucie--it's the only legit race-worthy car at the beginning of the game, and it's your best ticket for generating other fast vehicles at the beginning of the game.
    • On the same note, why is it that the hood can fly off my car, but if I clip an OPEN car door in traffic, it wrecks the WHOLE car?
    • I would recommend it to anyone who likes dramatic story and cars, even if you don't think you'll like it its only like $13 so it won't put a big hole in your pocket if you end up not liking it
    • Plenty of weapons to choose from, great cars/cycles to drive and do tricks on, not to mention drive by and shoot from
    • The car's damage also seem VERY forgiving.
    • The gunplay is fairly fluid, but as of yet I haven't had too many opponents; Driving is a blast, esp stealing cars from the street
    • keeping cars is almost useless because you can lose them often after cut scenes end because they will disappear
    • There are plenty of good, fast cars to mow down pedestrians with
    • You cannot fly planes, small city, horrible car control
    • They expect you to chase down people in fast cars on crowded streets who are able to make MUCH sharper turns than you and when you try to turn, you spin out or don't turn much at all and slam into a wall
    • Also, I have to echo the previous review again and state the cars in GTA4 feel a lot sloppier than GTA3.
    • I am the kind of person who likes to drive around and just run people over and steal cars in the game
    • If you get bored, you can always just go run around and shoot people or steal cars
    • The cars are much more realistic, and more modern (Chrysler 300
    • I loved boosting cars and then pimping them out
    • You can buy burgers, go to the top of the Empire State equivalent, go see a comedy show, take a helicopter tour, help friends, paint your wheels, surf the web, email ladies for dates, go on the dates, fish for a kiss afterwards, fail a bit, sleep with prostitutes to feel better, swim nowhere for no reason, buy a burger again, watch TV a bit (even channel hop), go bowling, improve, go to a strip club and get a private dance, go drinking and then drive home, play darts and even, should you feel like it, steal a car
    • Crappy cars will have squeaky breaks, fast cars will have monstrous engines, pedestrians will talk to eachother, pigeons coo, grenades explode, cars crash, sirens wail, and on and on.
    • The cars are really difficult to turn even at a moderate speed.
    • Otherwise, you must drive across town in a slow car to pick them up, then drop them off afterwards.
    • The cars are also a big pain because they just don't feel right
    • This happened to me more than once because the game's AI traffic knocked a car just enough out of the space that it was no longer considered "parked".Bottom line is this series isn't fun to play anymore
    • For a gamer like me - someone who just wants to mash down on the gas peddle and be able to take corners at blinding speed - the "realistic" car physics gets a little tough to get used to
    • Fast cars, weapons, chicks, strip clubs, casinos, clubs, pubs, bars, fights, it has everything
    • Even after playing for nearly forty hours and having the best cars in the game, I still never got the hang of power sliding -- even though I did it many times every time I drove a car
    • If a wreck is pretty bad, the car just stops working, rather than bursting into flames, which is not very realistic.
    • Before, your car just got damaged some
    • Wait until you accidentally hit someone in your shiny white car and see their blood splattered on your hood and bumper
    • The cars look good but really don't move as fast or are as fun to drive
    • In GTA IV, you start at zero and have the possibility to have it all, penthouses, fast cars, money, girlfriends, you know, the dream originally promised in the beginning
    • smooth play, sick cars, hot women, and mad gameplay
    • A bit too dark at night, and cars can be tough to handle, which makes it fun.
    • Always too dark, the cars were ho-hum, the missions were bleh
    • and runs over and jumps in a crappy car
    • just remember that while you're running from cops for stealing cars and shooting people on the streets.
    • They should have:Included an option to buckle upMade turning in cars easier
    • Who doesnt love stealing cars in a game
    • The cars are great the variety ranges from suv's to even helicopters
    • It's visually annoying, and makes stealing cars weird; you can only seem to find fast, expensive cars if you are already driving one.
    • That means no insanely insane car stunts
    • My friends and I have a great time finding new ways to destroy cars, chase down jaywalkers, and hold last stands in front of police stations
    • The cars also seem very slow, even if they aren't
    • You drive around the city find some insanely cool car then make it even more awesome
    • they should have had garages that always store your car like Saints Row which didn't have the story but honestly had was a surprisingly more enjoyable game
    • I like that car
    • - Game locked up on me before the laundry mission (good thing I saved) - cars handle weird (like the steering is stripped)Overall
    • All the new cars are pretty and the paint shimmers on them in the digital sun
    • Crappy cars will have squeaky breaks, fast cars will have monstrous engines, pedestrians will talk to eachother, pigeons coo, grenades explode, cars crash, sirens wail, and on and on.
    • However, sometimes, some cars have incredibly poor traction and put you into terrible accidents when you think you have plenty of time to stop
    • I think the real issue is that they went out of their way to give some cars poor handling simply for the sake of game play variety
    • missions will always be there for you to complete, there's a lot of awesome cars in this game to collect
    • All the new cars are pretty and the paint shimmers on them in the digital sun
    • I hated the "system" so much, I never bothered to steal a parked car more than once in this game
    • The cars are not that great and the missions suck
    • i like all the grand theft auto 's but this one should of been better their should be realistic trucks cars police cars it should let u get a job without doing other people stuff i mean come on
    • It's visually annoying, and makes stealing cars weird; you can only seem to find fast, expensive cars if you are already driving one.
    • If you want a racing game where every car goes nice and fast, invest the money in Need for Speed
    • so... a wild NPC car can hit it and knock it out of it's spot
    • My stats show that my favorite car has been the Oracle
    • Having driven cars in GTA3-GTA San Andreas, as well as in other games involving driving, and Saints Row 2, as well as even driving in real life, it is safe and believable for me to say:THE DRIVING IN GTAIV DOES NOT COME ANYWHERE CLOSE TO REALITY.
    • There are many "improvements" to the game that supposedly enhances the experience, but they really only suck the fun out of the game as I mentioned earlier
    • Son love it he says it works fine , so what eles can I say but it is still working as of today
    • Which also makes him run just as fast as though nothing is going on
    • and that's too bad as that's
    • This game may not look nearly as good as some of its contemporaries, but they did the absolute most they could with it.
    • With a whole lot more polish, mid-mission checkpoints and far less repetition, GTA IV would deserve the accolades and commercial success it has enjoyed as of late
    • This game is DEEP.Honestly, if you like video games or digital entertainment of any kind then this as good as it gets.
    • There's a rock station featuring Iggy freakin' Pop as the foul-mouthed DJ, classic hip-hop and R&B, smooth jazz, techno, LCHC (Liberty City HardCore), and even an all Bob Marley station just to name a few.
