To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what water should boil at at my altitude, but this seems close enough given the creation of steam (I assume the actual water temperature is slightly higher but the IR thermometer is not great measuring water... a mercury thermometer next time).I will retain the smaller kettle as it is lighter and obviously still works just fine, but this new kettle will definitely suit my experimental uses as my coffee-making skills improve (pour over, mostly).
