It is great in a completely dark room

A darker room definitely gets a better picture but not a necessity.

You do need a relatively dark room though

Can't mount this from the ceiling, and you can only use it in a very dark room, I would suggest to spend the extra money for a nicer one.

We even tried putting some anime (One Piece, Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul) through Netflix, and sincerely, my brother (10 years old) prefered watching it in the Wii U tablet than in the 100" screen projected (I believe this says its quite bad quality, right?)Anyways, if you're expecting a cheap projector, 800x600 resolution to play in dark room (not a lot of image quality -or none at all?-) you should be fine

I use it with my apple tv so the backlighting is great for a darker room

It's great for the price, and with an external speaker and a dark room, it can be better than a TV, because it can be WAY bigger of a screen for a fraction of the price

It gives out a pretty wide screen when projected but you will have to be in a very dark room to see it correctly and it might not be the best but for the price I am happy with my purchase.

Don't expect super high definition picture, and you can't have a well lit room, but its worth the buy.

I am keeping it instead of returning it as it is really cheap compared to high end projectors but with little comprise over expected brightness and will watch live tennis on it in dark room

I recommend this for anyone thinking of maybe getting a better set up just to try it out, having a projector is not for everyone, I use this 2- 3 times per month and it's usually for a family movie night, dark room, popcorn, pillows, your favorite drink and everyone is happy.

Cheap, but acceptable in a dark room.
