We just got new carpeting, and since we both work at home, we needed mats at our desks to protect the new carpet and also to make it easier to slide our chairs in and out

This mat does the job for sitting at a computer on plush carpet.

It is perfect for our medium pile plush carpet

When used on top of my current 1/2" plush carpet, the old mat cracked in multiple places making movement problematic.

The holding bumps or protrusions on the underside are too short for a dense, high quality, 1/2 inch thick carpet so the chair mat gradually moves.

This mat protects the carpet and it allows chairs to roll across it with ease.

Cons: It does not hold position on my 1/2" plush carpet

i've got a medium plush carpet and my chair rolls beautifully on the pad

Ruined the carpet and pulled fibers out when I adjusted the mat fo prevent more damage to the carpet

They aren't deep enough to damage the carpet, and the plastic feels a little thicker than some of the other types that I've bought from staples/bestbuy.

Not over concerned, but it makes my carpet look like that weathered old yellow color that would happen on the plastic to old computers

I'm using it on a medium pile carpet and pad, very cushy, and other mats left divots and buckled.

The carpet isn't plush in the apartment, but the carpet pad is unusually thick, so something to keep in mind.

That said, if it remains truly unbreakable I can tolerate the above shortcomings as previous chair mats made of different plastic are far to flexible (for a carpet application), which inevitably leads to cracking and subsequent replacement $$.
