I had to extensively clean my pan to verify there was no metal shavings left on my pan

I have also used the steel wool on ceramics, very carefully, so as not to spoil the glaze, but it is perfectly safe for scrubbing stainless steel pans.

I also use them to shine my stainless steel pots & pans

Now I have lots of steel wool that "just tickles" my pan

On the other hand, it does wonders for shining pots and pans.
