(so I had to keep it covered at night), the volume dial was touchy (classic problem with alarm clocks I think) and the standard alarm was an awful, blaring sound - exactly the sound you don't want to wake up to if you want to have a good day.

On the negative side, you have to set the alarm every night -- you can't set it to automatically go off every day like most alarm clocks
