Yes it's made of particle board under the nice finish, like most furniture these days, but it's very sturdy and gorgeous

The finish is nice-it does show fingerprints but it does not look like it is easy to scatch

The desk is very solid and a good finish, our initial top came in damaged, which was unpleasant but we installed it anyways and then inquired to amazon about a replacement top, after a bit of back and forth we decided to email the manufacturer directly about the replacement, and wow their customer support is the best if ever worked with thus the 5 star rating.

The finish even feels richer than desk I have paid more for in the past
