It is very stiff and brittle plastic.

The plastic which hold the phone in place cracks amd does not hold the phone securely

This is because the edges of the protective plastic part do not wrap around the phone the way better constructed cases do

Poor-quality plastic ruins an otherwise promising case

The leather protects well, but the plastic which holds the phone secure has broken off on multiple corners which caused my screen to crack when I dropped the phone as the plastic wasn't there to protect the corner of the phone.

I replaced this case with one from another company with soft pliable plastic that is not likely to crack and breakI can't recommend this product

The original hard plastic shell was greatly improved to a softer silicone (excellent).The company’s (Shieldon) response to my warranty claim was amazing, receiving a replacement in a couple of days

Luckily the Verveli I just got to replace it, used the right plastic

Replace the weak plastic with a material such as silicone would make this case a 5 star product.

Bad plastic

The bottom corners of the hard plastic cradle broke off of the case within a month

Leather is great but the plastic that holds the phone is getting brittle and breaking off

Also, I take my phone in and out of the case about three times a week, and after two months the plastic is ripping and forcing me to buy a new (different) case.

The old design was a hard plastic enclosure, and it would crack and fail over time.

The folding into a stand for viewing works nicely as does the magnetic catch - which hold the case open when the cover is folded behind as well as when it is closed over the front.
