Doc files seem to work okay, but I've had some trouble with xls files.

Keynote should be a stand alone, independent presentation and not reliant on external media links...if you sneeze, move one file, rename, it crashes....and you lose important, randomly and it reshuffles data images and videos with the wrong text....crashes and crashes

I had no problems opening/converting files from Office, so compatibility exceeded my expectations.

If you distain the latest versions of software that Mac is supplying with new computers...better buy this one whilst you can find it - the new Mac software will not open older file versions saved in this format - the work arounds to open iWork '09 files is tedious and not worth the effort

By "poor" I mean that Pages simply ignores text entry fields in .doc files

Don't move your files, though or you'll lose the links
