Be aware that the strings are loose when you unpack it so you will definitely need to tune it before playing, but that's a given in any case
-
but, I managed to break the g string when first tuning it
-
The high action hurt my fingers, so I immediately swapped the fairly heavy strings it came with for a lighter set of Martin steel strings, and noticed a further deterioration in the already only so-so tone.
-
I had to buy new strings cause one of them broke, but other then that it was ok.
-
As is the case with most beginners, the strings were wreaking havoc on my fingers.
-
And I like those strings better
-
This guitar is comparable to my epiphone pr-4e, with the correct strings that is
-
Regarding stuff I read in other reviews: the strings on mine weren't corroded and the pickguard was just plain black without any logo or text
-
I would have given this a 5 star for the price, if it wasn't for the adjustments needed, as well as the rusted strings
-
It comes with decent strings, even though I bought Martin SPs and put those on, I really didn't need to
-
The strings are strong and the tuners are made of metal
-
I recommend anyone who buys it replace the strings.because the strings are too hard and doesn't make a good sound
-
The guitar itself was fine but the strings were very rusted
-
The strings were pretty
-
I had mine restrung after about 6 months to better strings (per my instructors recommendation) but the original strings were great as well.
-
Arrived late and with rusty strings
-
It is good guitar but I broken a string at the first day
-
I had to switch out the strings and the saddle (as recommended by other users), but everyone that sees and hears my guitar thinks it should cost a lot more.
-
You want them to be loose, otherwise, in abnormal weather, the strings can tighten enough to break the neck.
-
As it was brand new and was inside the box for a while, the strings were bit rusted; therefore, I had to replace the strings (I recommend Martin SP Strings)
-
Yeah, the strings that it came with were terrible, but it's an amazing guitar
-
The strings that it came with were nice so those will be bagged and put in the case for backup
-
I really like how the strings are really low on the neck and re frets
-
Great guitar, not so great strings, and sub-par shipping
-
The strings were rusted when I received the guitar.
-
I remove the paper from the strings and the strings are corroded
-
fantastic for the beginner low strings ready to play
-
They are probably cheap strings that often arrive on mass produced models
-
Awful strings
-
Works well, I'd just change the strings.
-
I did not attempt to return the guitar for the rusted strings (amazon would have paid to return it) - as I figured the next one sent out from amazon.com is likely to also be rusted.
-
both the nut and saddle require some sanding/filing to fit, but only takes half hour or so to install both of them along with some better strings. for under 90 bucks you can have a great beater acoustic that you don't have to worry about carrying around.
-
The 4th, 5th and 6th strings touched the first fret
-
a previous user said that the strings that come with this guitar are not very good, I completely agree
-
The strings themselves may be the weak
-
New strings would look nicer, though
-
It arrived in very good condition with good strings.
-
i am am going to purchase some new strings as well
-
The strings it came with were corroded out of the box, so be aware they aren't the best
-
The strings were fine and the tuners are smooth and keep the strings tight avoiding having to constantly tune the guitar as with some inexpensive guitars.
-
However, the strings were in perfect condition and, when I tuned her up, the guitar had nearly perfect set-up and sounded pretty stinkin' amazing out of the box!
-
No kidding, less than ten minutes out of the box, during tuning, a string broke
-
In terms of playability and sound, it can contend with a lot of other guitars, especially if you have great strings and a nice set up
-
Great guitar strings are ok
-
The strings it comes with are bad
-
Like the other reviews said, the strings it comes with don't sound very good.
-
I recommend extra light strings for new players, as they are easier on the fingers
-
And yes, there were some rusty strings, as described by other buyers
-
I was also slightly concerned changing the strings for the first time as it is so cheap something could fly
-
The strings were rusty when the guitar arrived, so we paid our local music store about $10 and they put new strings on
-
The strings that came with the guitar were extremely dirty and corroded, but that's no problem since that's easily fixable with new strings
-
Horrible original string which it came with
-
THE STRINGSThe strings are crap but the first thing ANYONE does with a new guitar is change the factory strings.2
-
Bought this as a gift for my adult daughter, she broke a string right away and since restringing it won't stay in tune.
-
only $90.I did end up restringing it with elixir's and have to say that those strings made it even nicer to play.
-
Great guitar for the price even the strings on it were decent.
-
After tightening the truss rod, buying a bison saddle and personally trimming it with an X-Acto knife and both gross and fine sandpaper, and putting on a set of top-of-the-line fine strings, it played every bit as well as the old Gibson.
-
There is a piece of paper protecting the strings (yes, plain paper with a rubber band and some glue, really cheap package).- Overall, considering the packing/shipping the guitar arrived in good shape, with only 1 string a little bent, but it didn't seem to affect play very much.=== QUALITY === 2 STARSIt's a guitar for less than $100 dollars, and don't think you are getting a "steal"
-
I would not recommend the original string for the beginners
-
The action is not as high as others have said and the strings are fine.
-
This guitar has the strings really close, so it's not painful to fret a string, but I can't get them to buzz
-
The strings on mine didn't come rusted as some peoples seem to but mine shipped only 2 states away and got here in a few days (minus Amazon sitting on the order for 3 days before they shipped it
-
My fingers were sore the first week by the second week I learned 4 cords and built some what of a callous the strings are hard and stiff because it's new but the more you play the better it gets
-
I removed the strings, dusted it off, and restrung it
-
Still playing on original strings, but I think it will sound even better once I change to my favorite strings
-
The strings are cheap but once you put new ones on ($15) it's sounds great.
-
The first and the 6th strings have a horrible rattle/vibration to them.
-
The strings came corroded, simple and cheap to replace
-
The strings are not the best, but I bet if they were replaced it would be a lot better.
-
others have said their strings were rusty but mine weren't
-
Just a tip, the strings it comes with are adequate, but not the best
-
Best guitar for the price for a begginer, I did what most ppl recommended changing the strings for better ones and couldn't be happier.
-
Get some decent strings as the ones that it comes with leave much to be desired.
-
Even the basic strings it comes with have been fine for my novice ear
-
My wife got a 3/4 classic nylon string guitar on craigslist that sounds funny compared to this full-bodied steel string
-
If not, I suggest you purchase a string winder (B0002E1G5C), a set of good strings (B0002H09RU) and a guitar tuner (B003VWJ2K8.
-
The strings were a little rusted out of box but easy enough to replace
-
Play the guitar with these strings for a few weeks, as the begin to sound dull-er, find some nice Martin strings, lighter the gauge, the thinner they will be, and also the easier it will be to press in on the strings (less tension)
-
The strings were a little rusted out of box but easy enough to replace
-
This is simply a piece of sturdy string tied to one end of the strap, forming a loop that goes under the strings, right above the nut
-
Order some nice strings to out on it right away
-
The strings that come on the guitar are pretty awful, but I also am terribly picky when it comes to guitar strings
-
Like the reviews say, the strings suck
-
I’m guessing that putting some decent strings on would help, but I didn’t do this
-
First one I ordered, the G string was broken when I got it, the replacement was fine
-
The string pegs work very well and the construction of the unit is very sound
-
It really does sound good for a cheap guitar even with the rusty strings that it came with
-
Just a tip, the strings it comes with are adequate, but not the best
-
Replacing them with a better brand name strings seemed to alleviate this more
-
Once I got it in tuned with good strings, I tightened the truss to the slight bow I like and wow
-
n’t believe how much I love this guitar
-
The guitar plays nice and the action won`t be a problem if you set it up
-
The coil wrapped strings (most notably the G) had corrosion in them but this was not a problem for me because I purchased new strings (Elixir Nanoweb Light Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings) to go immediately on the guitar once I had it.
