I had one on my cell phone which fell between the seats and I unknowingly lowered my seat and cracked the screen protector - the phone screen was unscathed.

I ended up just winging it with both applications because when you go to pull the adhesive off the protector, it requires enough force to pull the entire protector off at least one of the hinge stickers, and you're left with a misaligned protector
