I prefer a smartphone, but I would recommend Jitterbug for people who don't need all the functions a smart phone provides

This jitterbug is made by Alcatel and has some good features, but some negatives:- Large buttons that she can see, and large on-screen fonts that she can read- Simpler navigation with Yes/No buttons rather than symbols

None of those are as good as the Jitterbug.

We have had our Jitterbug for 2 months now, and we wonder why we waited so long to get one.

All together I think the new Jitterbug is probably an improvement, but I am thankful we didn't pay an enormous charge to make the change from a 5 year old one.
