This is a great all around overdrive that can get some great old school overdrive sounds

Apparently it's comparable to the Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, but I actually think it's a totally different breed of overdrive (not as muddy sounding, fits in the mix a lot smoother, and cheaper too)

This is a great high gain overdrive

i use a joyo vintage overdrive for clean boost/slight overdrive and kick this pedal in to really get raunchy.

I can get anything from that classic 'chimey' Vox tone to some pretty gritty overdrive, and everything in between.

I am now using this and Joyo's Ultimate Overdrive on my single-channel amp to give me two levels of overdrive, and they work well next to each other.

The tone is much thicker and has more low end, and I'd say that is what Boss accomplished with the OD-3 for players who want more than the upper midrange hump in the standard Super Overdrive.
