The top end is great crisp and sharp (the best I have heard in a low end ear phone) but sounds like it is lacking bass or the ability to play bass

The bass will blow you out and tweaking the equalization will help, but I still have my old pair of Sony's that have better clarity.

JVC made a cheap headphone that has a nice crisp clean highs, lovely mid range territory and just enough bass to not feel overly cheated
