The HD makes the scenes crisper for 1 and 358/2 days while actually giving you a visual for Chain of Memories that isn't in a style similar to an older 8-bit game.

The nostalgia is there, the hd looks great and the trophy system on the PS3 give you some extra goals to work towards.

Other HD remakes tend to not touch things such as pre-rendered backgrounds, but in Kingdom Hearts even the pre-rendered stuff is displayed in gorgeous HD.

If you liked the original Kingdom Hearts, you'll feel right at home with Square's HD remastering
