These drives are, purportedly, an older design lacking some features that would improve speed and reduce wear (yes, SSDs wear), and likely also use a chip technology that has a lower life to begin with (life is really determined by how many writes the chips can tolerate, which is what causes "wear" in this technology)

The speeds here are a significant improvement over traditional HDDs
