Nano Key2 is a useful midi keyboard to create melodies, drumbeats, and to use it with monophonic synths but inconvenient for playing chords.

The keyboard is amazingly compact and the price is very good, but since I don't know how to play at all, I find easier to use the traditional kind of piano keyboards

I love this little MIDI keyboard and find it extremely efficient when I'm trying to lay down some new ideas for tracks or just simply playing around.

For the price, I found a much better keyboard for my application which had none of the problems I was having with this one, and was about 1/4 the price

I use this keyboard with Reason 5 and it works wonders with that program

CONS:-This is NOT a keyboard

The NanoKey2 isn't a great performance keyboard, but it's a super composition keyboard

It also works as a regular keyboard with the right program/plug-in, and is perfect for simple background music and jingles.

are like laptop keys so you won't be doing super fast keyboard runs on this thing without some awkwardness

This is a great little keyboard that I travel with to use with GarageBand on my Mac when I'm away from home

* Cheap! only $50 ($45 for the white version when I bought it) and with 2 day Amazon Prime shipping* 2 full octaves, a pc keyboard only supports about half of that without changing octave, which is really annoying

Great little keyboard controller, works great with garage band or pro tools.

A useful keyboard , but the quality isn't quite that good

The keys don't have amazing action (they're kind of like plasticky tappy keyboard keys but bigger) but it did way better with tapping drum parts than I ever thought it would

The keyboard is fine, if you don't care about feel or velocity.

The buttons are plastic-y with not as much weighted-ness as someone who plays piano or even a cheap keyboard may be used to, but they are velocity sensitive, so once you do get the hang of it, it works like a charm

It is almost easier to use an ipad for a keyboard, so while technically this does work, I would recommend at looking at 'another brand' of small portable keyboard which has smaller size keys, but they feel more like a keyboard should.

It is a flimsy keyboard, with keys that are structured oddly, feel worse than most laptop keys, are far to "clicky" and is just neither pleasant enough or responsive enough for my tastes

Only bust out the bigger keyboards when I really need em for elaborate parts

I.m PRETTY SURE that a Keyboardist will HATE this Keyboard

It fits on any desktop, or an a laptop bag, and it offers a lot of control for non-keyboard players like me who want to add some midi tracks to their recordings

With my experience, The keyboard is excellent for laying down a bass line or adding some synth cords or even adding in some drums using in a production program such as FL Studio

My only complaint would be that it doesn't come wihht its own carry case (sold separately, but I've had no problems integrating the keyboard with my music production software.

I can understand where someone that does play keyboards, or started out on piano would not like the device

works great for what I use it for ,can't always get a big keyboard out just to bring an idea to life

I have not tried any other portable keyboards for comparison.

Another difference is the pads used in the white and black versions - the black ones feel softer and less sticky, while the white ones slightly more sticky and platic-y, for lack of a better word...
