If you are new to fretted instruments and don't know what good intonation is, what you need to know is that when you play notes down on the neck, the notes will be correct and not sharp or flat

After a few days of having to tune it before she played, the strings settled in nicely and the instrument sounds great

A poor quality instrument can really frustrate and deter a beginner from sticking with it

Besides the plainer appearance, the only major difference of the LU-21C is that it has a deeper body, giving it a more mellow tone than the crisp sounding CKC.I'd rate the LU-21C as a good instrument for beginners on up
