Ideally I'd like to be able to just push down or lift up this stand with my laptop still on to adjust, but if you have a clunky laptop you are out of luck

It's very adjustable and makes using a laptop while in bed a lot more comfortable.

The only way this works is like the lady in the picture on the couch- balance the stand/laptop on your belly.

To write books and articles, I purchased this stand for using my laptop while lying down (with and without my legs bent) to overcome problems with my back and hip.
