It does darken the natural color of the leather a bit...in a good way!

My new shoes already look better, deeper, richer color, not a shine, just a warm, healthy brownish red.

I liked it better lighter, now, although the color is smoother and obviously better conditioned, it is also much MUCH darker...a dark cognac color instead of pale honey.

I was unable to smooth out the discoloration out or remove it (I used the Leather honey cleanser in an attempt to remove the effect and revert to the original color) -- never got it back to a smooth uniform tan leather color.
