If this case weren't so expensive, I'd be more likely to be more forgiving of those two complaints.

However a good drop down the stairs of out of a car seems like it could pop the case open leaving unprotected parts of the iPad mini

There is no question that when it has came down to accessories for the tablets, the most essential accessory has to be a protective case

Two hard plastic notches are too tight to properly clamp the device which means it deforms the actual casing of the back of the folio... inaccurate description or poorly designed product, either way do not buy this.

I tested much less expensive cases that were backlit and that is a very nice touch

After that, the case functions like a regular keyboard, albeit with some keys placed in different places in order to save space.

Due to the size of the iPad mini, every keyboard case is inherently a juggling act between providing keys large enough to be functional, and a case small enough to not render your sleek device into a brick.

As I mentioned before, the case does provide protection but its obviously not as much as an Otter box
