• Reviews around fire hazard (2.38 of 5)

Mackie CR Series CR3LTD - Limited Edition Silver Trim 3" Creative Reference Multimedia Monitors (Pair)

    • Jiggling the left right switch on the back of the powered speaker will temporarily bring back the stereo sound but not for long.-Another reviewer took his speaker apart and found signs of smoke damage and shorting which would be a fire hazard
    • these sounded great until this happened, do not recommend these since these are a fire hazard.
    • they are a fire hazard....took mine apart and saw a burnt capacitor and black residue on the circuit board!!!
    • Now that I read other reviews of this unit being a potential fire hazard, I'm worried about using them at all.
    • Mackie should recall all speakers, it's a fire hazard!
    • Solidly built, excellent sound, all the I/O options you need, they come complete with cables, sound insulating pads, and have a nice option to "flip" the powered side to left or right
    • This is annoying, especially if your best headphones are open-back- Half the time I use the speakers, theydo not work due to a really cheap L/R selector switch.
    • money- Cabinet made with MDF Wood instead of plastic- Great for gaming/ TV speaker upgrade- Flat frequencyCons- Not as loud as
    • Like most studio monitors the CR3s benefit from a break in period as well as from proper positioning.
    • These speakers have a clear and good high end, but lacks the lows (as to be expected from a smaller speaker)
    • The sound quality was still just as good as when I bought them and they never gave me any issues whatsoever
    • I'm sure basic users would be impressed as
    • However, these speakers don't handle loud volumes well, and whenever a louder than normal track was played or one with heavy bass, things fell apart again
    • If you are on the fence on which size model to get I think I would recommend the 4" as they go down to 70Hz which I feel is an important low frequency not to ignore.
    • and then it should work as you hook it up
