On their own, the sound is very balanced and they do play the low frequencies somewhat when playing loud music or watching movies.
-
but I enjoy music with flat equalizer settings
-
It makes my music producing quadruply more enjoyable.
-
I stream music and love the clear sound!
-
Crisp clear audio, fantastic bass, and they get LOUD when you ask them to, these guys have provided music for more than a few house parties over the three years I've owned them
-
I wanted to listen to louder music and at around 50% the bass started to get distortion, at around 55% the distortion got worse and at 60% it ruins the music I can't say for sure what it is but the distortion at the volume sucks :/ but overall for normal volume I would say the volume of a UE Boom 2 at half or max the Mackie are fine
-
Keep in mind these are intended for music mixing and mastering, etc. if you are just going to be listening to music or gaming, etc
-
probably not, but for clear music listening at a great price, these are a great entry into the reference monitor space!
-
I wanted to buy a pair of inexpensive monitors to run my 'quiet' music setup in my office
-
Music sounds amazing, game vocals are clear, sound effects are distinct and I don't have to string wires all over my office to get that.
-
I love good music, accurately reproduced
-
With the CR4s it feels like the music is coming from thin air right out of my computer monitor
-
Music lovers who enjoy music with clean, well mixed, but not overwhelming, bass will not be disappointed.
-
Would definitely recommend this to anyone who love music.
-
just a music lover
-
I'm a hobby recordist who loves music, and I also bought these to monitor audio for video
-
I'd recommend these for producers and pretty much anyone who loves music, you won't be disappointed.
-
Time will tell but in the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying revisiting my favorite music!
-
The CR4's sounded wonderful when directly hooked up to an Apple iPhone 5s and iPad 3 but the same music coming from the headphone out of a Lenovo E535 laptop sounded lifeless and flat
-
You won't hear them over a table saw or shop-vac, but everything else I do in the shop I can now do comfortably, without dangerous headphone cables trailing behind me, and with the benefit of great-sounding music.
-
It plays music good and loud, I love bassy
-
Recommended for none-critical background music, streaming music, U-tube videos and movies.
-
Because these are technically Monitors and not speakers, they deliver different frequency response that most users who appreciate music will be able to tell - clarity, crispness, etc
-
Now the music us much better and I can hear dialogue better as well
-
I am a video editor, electronic music producer and music lover
-
Music, movies, and gaming all sound rich, loud, and distortion free
-
Definitely a HUGE step from my god awful laptop speakers, and being an aspiring music producer, these things work wonders
-
$99 bucks is quite a bit of money to fork out on speakers, but whether you are a musician or a person looking for a pair of speakers to enjoy music and movies - you won't be disappointed with these babies
-
I do not consider myself to be an “audiophile”, but I feel that I listen to enough music to know good speakers from bad speakers
-
so your music may sound very flat or in other word, cold
-
The music was pretty loud but not remotely close to a volume level that I would be worried about this monitor set being damaged
-
speaker's built in amp isn't that powerful, and while music sounds good, it doesn't play that loud.
-
I'm not a fan of loud music, yet I can play these puppies at full volume (no distortion) with no annoyance
-
I'm very pleased with this purchase, for the purpose of office work, listening to student audio projects to grade them, enjoying some music while working, etc.
-
I'm a reasonably demanding listener, I have been using an external Audio-Technica headphone amp and ATH A900 headphones but wanted to enjoy music without the headphones
-
The music - classic rock, hard rock, rare good new rock
-
For me, that defeats the purpose of having two separate speakers, and, as a musician that produces and mix/masters my own music, having only one side produce sound would simply not work for me
-
Avoid this product if you're looking for something to enjoy music.
-
but the sound was so annoying that I realized I would no longer be able to enjoy my music in high quality through these speakers anymore
-
so make sure you play the most atrocious music for you neighbors to complain about
-
I love music and not just one genre, I listen to everything
-
I'm no audiophile or musician, I just wanted speakers that could play music with great quality when I'm hanging out at home (mainly through Pandora, Spotify or Google Music)
-
Headphones, however, aren't always the best choice when playing music or games, but specifically music
-
If you are looking for a way to gradually improve your home studio or enjoy the music you love, your worries are over
-
I'm literally relistening to all my favorite music on these because they make everything sounds so freaking amazing
-
I use these for mixing music replacing my long-dead M-Audio monitors destroyed when my toddler punched the cones in
-
These units replaced a pair of 4" M-Audio speakers, which my 4 year old broke by experimenting with connections.
-
I replaced some old M-Audio speakers that just died on me.
-
backward M-Audio.(3) The most important of all the sound is amazingly CLEAR and faithfully FLAT
-
I had many computer speakers before, including bose, boston, yamaha and they all base their sound on the small stereo tweeters coupled with bottom heavy sub, creating this U shaped heavy colored "modern" theater sound
-
Solidly built, excellent sound, all the I/O options you need, they come complete with cables, sound insulating pads, and have a nice option to "flip" the powered side to left or right
