The Mackie is a little more base heavy than the JBLs which is both good and bad, but since it does not muddy the sound it is mostly a positive.

Mackie has a rock-solid reputation, and they have designed some great entry-level speakers here for the home DAWer

If you like the sound of a really deep extended bass, you could add Mackie's companion MR10Smk3 studio subwoofer for a really powerful deep bass, but I find this bass sound so deep, it's not at all necessary

This Mackie has excellent sound and actually worked rather well with my existing set up.
