These Mackie MR524s are great, and I am very happy with this purchase.

Don't fear the Mackie

If a company is good to me, I'm loyal and Mackie has been good to me

I use the top right socket of a Tripplite ISOBAR4 (which are shared with other Class 2 Transformer supplys including...drum roll

-BUT- you do not gain any REAL advantage because the PCB circuitry is altered for worse in the larger models, its best to connect a power strip off the top right socket because the unit CAN and DOES handle the load

I used 2 Alesis M1Active 520 Powered Monitors and absolutely LOVED THEM, until after 10 years of making incredible sound, I'd turn them on, and over the past year they would start making random white noise - it kinda sounded like thunder the way it would creep in.

The high end is very smooth and I never realized just how fatiguing the previous speakers were on my hearing

They have amazing imaging and this 6" version throws enough low-end to not concern yourself with a subwoofer for most mixes

Love this sub

A Dayton Classic 8 Sub in a sealed enclosure extends the mix wonderfully--never does the low pass

My own music that I record sounds cleaner and more accurate

3 or so feet apart, music sounds clearer, cleaner, and more widespread (I am playing PC audio thru a Mackie Onyx 2x2 USB interface right into the speakers).

I use my PC mostly for sequencing/arranging on keyboards, sometimes editing digital audio, sometimes I just want to listen to awesome music that I can just turn up and just about bathe in.

Monitors are like underwear, everyone likes something different.

Competeing speakers have their negatives that I won't mention here... but the Mackie were my top pick - none are perfect

If you’re a music producer and you can’t afford to pay an arm and a leg for studio monitors these are a great pick

Great performers at low volumes, saves your ears big time

If you are one who likes loud thumping bass in your music, look elsewhere, these are not designed for that, but as a reference monitor, they are top-notch.

Lastly, these speakers are identical, meaning the left speaker and the right speaker do not have mirrored versions of the back controls.

I am sure there are superior speakers out there, but for the money these sound awesome.

These are relatively inexpensive speakers and compare very favorably in their category

It is not a deal breaker because the speakers look great, but they do collect dust and need occasional dusting to keep them looking great
