Also the raised edge provides some protection to the screen in the event it lands on a smooth surface

I've dropped my phone a few times with my current case (Zoogue) with a 1.0 mm lip, which I find really essential in case of frontal impact when dropped on hard surfaces, and has held up so far and screen is without a crack
