Misfit Shine - Activity and Sleep Monitor

    • I'd highly recommend this device for anyone looking for Sleep tracking and Activity tracking.
    • I would NOT recommend this device, due to its failure to work, so soon after activating it, on two different occasions.
    • I’m afraid that I got swept up in the high praise for the device’s good looks.
    • I cannot recommend the device because of its tendency to pop out of its band and become lost
    • Customizable options for activity, sleep, etc.- Can sync up with several food and calorie tracking apps like My Fitness PalCons:- Magnetic clip doesn't hold the device as well as you'd like
    • Since having my device replaced I've already bought Shines as birthday gifts for two friends and have also recommended the device to countless other people
    • I actually had the actual device pop out of the strap and fall on the floor for no reason
    • Over the days of replacing batteries and manually syncing (I read every word in ever support topic on their website), the device failed to record a 5k walk, an hour bike ride and then a 5k jog
    • I love this little device!
    • Lost device while wearing as directed.
    • but I like the device itself.
    • While I never took the shine off or switched bands, the wrist band became stretched and the device kept falling out
    • Great device, wrist band awful
    • - i had to be semi careful not to lose my misfit device when i wore it with the sports band it came with - I know the newer models they've redesigned it to
    • Great device extremely well designed and created by someone who considers design on a more human aspects of usage
    • Great device - accurate and discreet
    • The device easily falls out of both units that are suppose to hold it
    • I can see how some might be concerned with losing the device, I'd recommend purchasing one of the more secure bands that traps the device better than the one it comes with.
    • I could live with 5 month battery life, but it doesn't help when you lose the device with a brand new battery in it.
    • Lost the device in few days as the device doesn't stay properly in wrist band.
    • Because I'm still concerned over the band and losing the device, I use the magnetic clip as a safety "leash" now, but so far it hasn't popped out of the band
    • A good looking, device to track activity and sleep but the accessory straps provided to make the disc wearable are a joke
    • The Shine is the best combination device and had a professional appearance so can easily wear with business attire as well as workout and casual wear
    • Also, the device ordered itself a new battery when it first died at around six months, after that with no
    • This device is incredible
    • Overall, it's a good device that meets most of my needs; I just wish the monitoring were as pretty as the device is.
    • I do use this device on an elliptical machine, and it works just fine still counting my activity for the day.
    • but wow I love this little device especially because it tracks my sleep went swimming in it, and I don't have to worry about the battery as much as I did with my fit bit one.
    • I think Misfit really have to fix the watch strap to have it securely hold the Misfit Shine device without it falling
    • I will look into a more comprehensive device for the future.
    • Great waterproof device
    • The device is nearly impossible to open and insert the battery
    • I'd better use a brand with a well deserved name than another cheap device that will fail in a year.
    • Overall, I'd never recommend this device to anyone!
    • This is my new favorite device for swimmers
    • But then, a couple months ago the device stopped working and tracking my steps.
    • I also like that you can use the device for time ( a little archaic, but it works).I wish it monitored heart rate, that is the only thing that my daughter's device does better.
    • I've been using the Misfit Shine device for about a year
    • I like the device because I don't have to wear it like a watch.
    • Excellent device, user friendly and the support from misfit is absolutely amazing!
    • When it arrived, the device was easy to set up and sync to my phone
    • Once I learned "the trick" to syncing the device to my phone, I fell in love with it.
    • My main reason for the purchase was to be able to track my laps as I swim, but find that it has been a really great device for tracking my sleep patterns as well as my level of activity
    • Device worked for 3 months very well, then died
    • I almost lost the device once because the device started coming out of the band after I scraped my arm against something, but luckily I noticed that it was falling out.
    • I love this device
    • I lost my device while touring the Smithsonian
    • Since this was my first fitness device, and I was not sure if I would really use or want one, I bought the Shine as a 'practice' device
    • I really want to like this device
    • Overall I feel like it's a good device that has become less reliable over time and for this reason I am shopping around for a new device to fit my needs.
    • Customer support was quick to reply and offer ways to help me locate the missing device, but as soon as it was determined the device was gone and not emitting a signal for detection anymore they stopped responding to me
    • What a great device
    • The Misfit device is very cool.
    • I absolutely love this device
    • Recently the device fell out of the wrist band on a particularly active day and I wrote to the company about it- and they replaced it, no questions asked
    • My misfit shine device does not sync with my phone and it does not sync with my tablet
    • I absolutely love this device
    • Otherwise this is a great device, and I truly love the tracking features, and feel they are pretty accurate for my daily activities!
    • So of 4 devices, we lost 3 in 4 months.
    • Since this is a known issue, I feel like it should have been in the description instead of listing iphone 4s as a compatible device
    • Love the device.
    • No device is like this
    • It is a well made device and the software appears interesting, but it is a waste of money if you can't keep it on your body.
    • Battery quickly dies, SW is just OK, the device falls out (even with their extra stop gap clip
    • But minor niggles - this is an excellent device
    • This seems to be a major issue for an otherwise excellent fracker--I'm not sure my Misfit hasn't responded with a better band to keep the expensive device in placeUpdate again (11/2017): I ended up purchasing another one, but the same thing just happened only 4 months later.
    • The Misfit Shine is a very cool device.
    • The Misfit Shine is a very cool device.
    • It was a waste because I never found the Shine device itself
    • It's such a pity because other than that it is a nice device except that I think it has the calories burned on the high side.
    • It's a beautiful device, it's truly waterproof, and I don't have to take it off to charge it
    • This isn't a bad device I feel it's accuracy to be lacking
    • At the current price this device is a steal and from what I’ve read about the Shine 2, the original Shine has 85% of the capability of the Shine 2 but none of the issues that come with a recently launched item.
    • I have tried many before (owned three Fitbita at one time due to brief battery life) but the MisFit is the only device I recommend to my family and friends.
    • The way the band holds the device is not perfect and could use some improvement
    • I also like the fact there is no re-charging, the device uses a battery.
    • But minor niggles - this is an excellent device
    • However...this little device is really pretty
    • The device can fall out of the watchband
    • I returned the device and was encouraged to try another one--sometimes you get a lemon.
    • This might lead to my losing the device someday, but I've managed to be very active for a few months and still have my Shine
    • My misfit shine device does not sync with my phone and it does not sync with my tablet
    • The device is slick and slippery, so one afternoon it fell out of my pocket when I was on the toilet and hid for two days in a basket full of magazines
    • I recommend the Shine if you are looking for a durable, sleek, and simple device.
    • However, the device falls out of the wrist band - which makes the product pretty much useless.
    • The Misfit device is very cool.
    • I found the device using a bluetooth scanner but the device has a dent in it and will no longer light up or sync
    • I will consider buying another of these units until a band with better device retention is made available.
    • I loved this device, I really did.
    • The strap wasn't tight enough to keep the device safe from falling
    • I chose this device to work with my android phone and my android tablet
    • So bottom line, I would NOT recommend this device, especially if you plan on using it for swim tracking.
    • I highly recommend the Misfit Shine as I love the slim profile, I didn't want a device that looked like other bulky fitness trackers.
    • There is an app called Misfit finder if you are lucky enough to lose the device in your home or other easily searchable location.
    • This was my four star review from November 1: I like the device so far
    • Device worked for 3 months very well, then died
    • The first Shine died, and the company was GREAT about replacing the defective device, even though it was 3 months old
    • That being said, it could be as Misfit claimed, it was a defective device, but I'm not tempting fate again, and while I will wash dishes, or wash my hands, I will not willingly submerse it again.
    • The device is fine, but the engineering on the clasp and other holders makes it too expensive to risk
    • I've been using the Misfit Shine device for about a year
    • Even if you download Shine App, the app doesn't find your device with bluetooth as a misfit shine
    • Simple, yet versatile, device that can be worn in just about any manner that you need for my activity (wrist, belt, sock, shoe, pocket, etc.).
    • Device doesn't stay in wristband very well.
    • Well, and now I also need a new device!
    • It's such a shame--this is easily the most fashionable device on the market that I've seen, and I was really looking forward to taking this swimming!
    • I actually liked the device when i first got it
    • Very slick device
    • The small compact device is durable and versitile
    • As much as I like the style, and even though my expectations are pretty basic, I think I'm in the market for a better device.
    • I like this device and I am very happy with the customer support
    • Although the Shine is a beautiful device, I didn't like the constant anxiety about it popping out of the band, and I *really* didn't like having to move it to my foot to capture cycling.
    • I often times forget I have it on, but I'm never afraid of losing the device when it's in the wrist strap
    • I absolutely love my device
    • I would love a device which would sync on its own, which could have woken me up in proper sleep phases, and was waterproof.
    • Finally contacted misfit again to be told, yes we have “checked our records and concluded that your device is defective”.
    • It would be the perfect device if it was permanently attached to the strap but can't recommend it without reserve when it's so easy to lose permanently.
    • This device is lacking a heart rate monitor and the ability to count stairs.
    • Now the device itself is really great
    • I think Misfit really have to fix the watch strap to have it securely hold the Misfit Shine device without it falling
    • The device keeps falling off strap and eventually lost it this way without knowing it came off the strap.
    • They are the nicest, sweetest, most caring people and the bottom line is if you're looking for a lightweight no fuss activity tracker, the misfit shine is the device for you!!!!
    • The device itself is gorgeous
    • And I had the device replaced, same problem
    • I prefer a step tracking device.
    • Besides that it's a great device and very user friendly!
    • I have had the Misfit Shine for nearly 4 months, it has honestly been the perfect device to help keep me moving.
    • I have had this device since April and it hasn't worked so well.
    • Band broke after a few weeks, causing me to lose the device.
    • It is hands down the best device in the market today! - JE, Chicago IL
    • My company incentivizes fitness tracking but the device they provided was substandard.
    • I had a defective device, and they quickly replaced it
    • - i had to be semi careful not to lose my misfit device when i wore it with the sports band it came with - I know the newer models they've redesigned it to
    • Here are my cautions for buyers-to-be: if you're not tech-savvy, spend time (an hour) up front with someone who is tech-savvy to learn the device; you need a tablet or cell phone that is blue-tooth compatible in order to get the reports on activity, etc.; buy your Misfit ONLY from an authorized seller (directly from Misfit or from Amazon as seller and fufillment); if you're going to use the original band, use a little Gorilla glue to make sure the device stays secure in the band (or buy a secure band) to avoid losing the Misfit.
    • I enjoyed this device, and found it quite effective until, after 2 months, it just fell out of the holder and disappeared
    • Note: I did find that you must tell the App where you are wearing your Shine device
    • Great device, wrist band awful
    • A beautiful device is pretty worthless without a good app
    • comment on how nice the device looks, usually think that it's jewelry
    • Solid little device not as advanced as other trackers but simple and easy to use.
    • This thing looked so cool and really wanted it to work but reality: this device does not work... after 5 days of dealing with misfits customer service (not in person but via email which was rather annoying
    • Since I work a thrilling desk job as a customer service representative, I wanted an uncomplicated device to track my movement and allow me to maintain a minimal level of exertion throughout the day.
    • I love this device
    • Great device and is fun to use
    • If you get one that actually works it is a neat little device, but I wouldn't take that risk.
    • I would not recommend this device just due to the strap issues.
    • At times I struggled with syncing the device to my phone or with the application, but customer service was helpful and always found a solution to my problem.
    • Recently I would find the device to be unresponsive, could get it back by pulling the battery out
    • This is the flakiest device I have ever owned
    • really disappointing, the device has so much to offer, but just can't be trusted in terms of durability
    • Three days later I receive an email from Jasmine in Misfit support asking me to provide my email address (no lie!) which I already provided and where she was emailing me... when the issue occurred (already provided)... which device I was using, Shine or Flash (already provided)... if installing a new battery (in my week-old device) solved the problem... the serial number (already provided)... and a photograph of the device (what?).I can't tell if "Jasmine" is another automated email, or a real person who didn't bother to read the issue report I filled out on their website.
    • but I knew that going in so have been careful not to lose the device.
    • son lost the device because it popped out of the band
    • However, the device is useless without the software
    • Still at half the price of the others I lived with clips failing and even figured out a safety chain because if you use clip you will lose the device unless you add a safety chain
    • They did not seem to understand the device was dead, hence they do not fulfill their warranty
    • I've preferred this device over other fitness
    • A beautiful device is pretty worthless without a good app
    • device fell out of the rubber strap and was lost.
    • Though I don't expect any fancy features beyond lap counting & time recording, the device failed on both
    • Honestly, this device is better, but their iPhone app is nowhere near as good as Fitbit's.
    • Other notes: Both bands should be redesigned to better secure the device
    • I have lost two devices due to their popping out of the wrist band and my not even knowing that the device was gone.
    • The device has worked great after getting it synced to my phone
    • They determined my device was defective and replaced it within 5 business days.
    • The Misfit Shine is a good little tracking device with one major flaw
    • My wearable devices must survive accidental drops, rain during outdoor duty shifts, or a kid's lunch accidentally being dumped all over it
    • *really* hope this is just a bad one and that the next one works better because I really want to like this device.
    • I also have the bloom necklace and it is nice as well, though I worry more about losing the device
    • I loved this little device for the three weeks that I owned it
    • Best tracking device that works for me.
    • Plus, the device kept falling of the bracelet
    • That's right, 2 months and some change for $75, and suddenly the device won't sync, and then it totally died.
    • The Misfit Shine Activity and Sleep monitor comes with one black band, the Misfit tracker device in the color you choose, the battery, the attachment for the wrist band to hold the tracker more securely, and a small tool to help raise the back piece to insert the battery.
    • there!)- face easy to read - the device responds well to the tapping- clever way of displaying
    • The most important thing is for the device to be consistent.
    • The device itself is great, but the band refuses to hold the
    • The first Shine died, and the company was GREAT about replacing the defective device, even though it was 3 months old
    • It's a great device, currently I'm using 2 different shine devices and multiple accessories in different colours
    • I would highly recommend this device
    • Pretty accurate, when run I also wear a TomTom runner's GPS watch because displays pace (also a worthy device) and Shine's reading of distance, calories is reasonably similar
    • Both the device and the app are easy to understand and to use, and allow the user to track activity--and progress--over extended periods
    • It had fallen off a few times, even the device it self popped out
    • The app continually crashes, and that's when the device was actually working
    • This is the best device my daughter owns.
    • Overall it works, however the device popped out from the wristband a couple of times, eventually I lost it forever.
    • Guess what, after using this for 4 weeks, I have lost the main device
    • The device itself is gorgeous.
    • and you can we worry free of ruining the device because of that dip in pool, ocean or that trip to water park.6
    • I wish I would have reached more before the purchase....lost devices seem to be fairly common after going on blog sites.
    • The device is nice and stylish but cheaply made
    • It secures the device in place unlike Flash where the device kept falling out.2
    • This device works great for all my sports
    • The device was not compatible with his Android phone
    • It secures the device in place unlike Flash where the device kept falling out.2
    • and you can we worry free of ruining the device because of that dip in pool, ocean or that trip to water park.6
    • The device worked phenomenally, but it just didn't stay in the band
    • But have problems syncing the device
    • I'm happy to say that because of the battery charge issue and the fact that it fell out, Misfit is replacing the device for free
    • It is a cool looking device but is basically useless for anyone except the truly sedentary.
    • The device is really nice looking and it worked pretty well minus occasional issues syncing with my phone
    • Although this is frustrating the device itself and its LED display keep me visually updated
    • With this band it is just a matter of time that I am going to lose the device.
    • The device itself is great, but the band refuses to hold the
    • There have been multiple times when I have lost the device in the pool
    • Neat device but scratch-
    • I'd end up losing the device
    • But I lost the device a little more than a week later when I was on vacation
    • this is the worst device I have ever owned
    • I loved this device and used it religiously for about six months before it fell out of the wrist strap and disappeared
    • The device is not very sensitive to touch, which is great, but can be annoying
    • My device was lost at the pool and was never turned in to lost and found.
    • If you are looking for a reliable device that will give you a benchmark for your activity level, this is the device for you
    • I will learn to love this beautiful little device
    • This is an activity monitor and the band cannot securely hold the misfit device with any certainty
    • Looks like no one has yet come up with a better device than the Swimovate
    • The device itself is great
    • Decent product for the price but after a couple weeks the device kept falling out of the band
    • Overall the Misfit Shine is a good product and the reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the actual device get loose so easily from the watch strap
    • Also they do not sell the replacement bands that match the Speedo Shine making the device look awkward on your wrist
    • Great device, it motivates to keep track of daily activity
    • Fashionable - I upgraded to the metal mesh band and it looks just like a watch and goes pretty well with my
    • but I strong believe the flexibility in its design cause serious fault in the integrity of the gadget in the rubber enclosure
    • I will admit, I lost my first Shine at work when it fell out of the wrist band, however I really like the new band with the locking mechanism
    • A texturized surface and better retention system would make this device more useful and vastly extend the service life by preventing premature loss such as I and so many other reviewers experienced
    • An honest waste of $75 :C
    • An honest waste of $75 :C
