Misfit Shine - Activity and Sleep Monitor

    • So okay, it was time to upgrade the phone anyway, so finally got around to doing that - and managed to get the App downloaded and the monitor working
    • They've got a great app for
    • Recently I've hit an issue with syncing the device to the Misfit tracker app running on android OS
    • But weak app, no comparison to Up app
    • The Up Move has a much better app, much more engaging and motivating, and with far more analysis.
    • Misfit also has an app in the Windows Store, which is completely useless
    • I really like the look of it, I love the app, but I just can’t trust it’s sensors
    • You have to pair your Shine and sync it via Bluetooth to the Misfit app which is easy to do (plus the app cheers you own when you hit your goals!
    • but it's authentic and work great with Misfit app!!
    • I have a Samsung smartphone and the Misfit app takes multiple tries to sync just one time
    • It is accurate, the app is user-friendly, and I have little to no trouble syncing it using a Droid Turbo.
    • The app for the product is very nice now.
    • , it tracked what I wanted to track (sleep and multiple types of activity) and it had a fairly well-rated app
    • I liked it because it is an affordable, no frills fitness tracker with a user friendly app.
    • The app is getting better with each update.
    • The app is fantastic and wonderful and I love it
    • The app works great and is clear and easy
    • Syncing with my iPad is effortless, but the native app is pretty clunky.
    • I have used both the Android and Apple apps, and prefer the Apple interface.
    • A beautiful device is pretty worthless without a good app
    • The app worked
    • I don't know of the ability to do this with the Misfit app.
    • The app is user-friendly, and they sent me a free replacement battery when mine ran down
    • There were no pinpoint holes in the uppercase to allow the light to be visible or sync device with iPhone or iPad 3 using the Misfit Shine App downloaded from the Apple App Store
    • App is decent, could be better, but it gives me the info I want easily
    • Two suggestions to improve the app that apply to the android version.
    • When it comes to it working, this product would get 5 stars... however, the accuracy, great app, lack of needing to be charged, and all the other features become useless once you find out that wearing it as a watch will end up causing you to lose the tracker
    • The App works pretty good (a few times it froze on me) so it's nice tracking your sleep & activity.
    • The Misfit App is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to check your activity and sleep stats at a glance
    • Yes, it is not ideal at measuring anything that doesn't involve steps (it's particularly bad at cycling), but I figured out that when I performed aerobic exercises that didn't have an accurate steps + calories burned ratio, I could combine it with my heart rate monitor, which gave me an accurate count of calories burned, and then adjust the amount of time spent on the activity in the Shine app to accurately reflect the number
    • The Shine app will then prompt and reset the Bluetooth, and after that it might sync 50% of the time
    • App is easy to use.
    • Now the app, I don't really like
    • I think the Up by jawbone (2,3- doesn't matter which one) has the best app out of all the trackers, very clean looking and user friendly, and you can track sleep, workouts, steps, and food in one app
    • I also did not like the software at all, as in order to sync you have to press a button repeated to get to the sync mode and the app is generally not very user-friendly or intuitive
    • Recent updates have improved the Android app, but the Windows app is very poorly designed
    • I also love how easy the app is to use; how it allowsm e to challenge friends; and how it tracks my sleep patterns.
    • The app is very easy to use and gives me tons of data!
    • -Trouble syncing until you find the "sweet spot"-App isn't very great***Not really a cons, but just note
    • The app is really terrible though and I still use the my fitness pal app and get better results
    • The app is easy to use and gives plenty of information
    • The app is easy to use too and syncs easily
    • The misfit app improved and they frequently updated it.
    • I also like the app for shine better
    • When I deleted the activities, my steps were deleted as well.-I did learn how one was to start tracking an activity, but when I checked the Misfit app later, the activity time was incorrectly recorded (there is a function to correct this, which I did).
    • The app shows the number of calories burned, and these include your basal metabolic calories, the calories needed to just stay alive, which is why the number seems high
    • I expected the app would be mediocre, and something I could live with, but it's not just bad compared to iOS, it's a terrible app by itself
    • Now the app crashes all the
    • So I tried to download the app onto my iPad Air and found there was no available app to download.
    • And the app works amazingly with it.
    • an all round healthier and happier life!I'd be interested to know if any other fitness tracker manufacturers show such a keen interest in their customers' fitness! Finally, there is also a Misfit app available for the Pebble Time smart
    • When I try to sync the Shine to the Misfit app it struggles to find it and fails syncing frequently
    • The only negative I have is that the app is kind of confusing
    • I had already downloaded the Misfit app to my mobile device, and easily opened it up, and pressed the sync button to get started.
    • I love the Misfit app for iPhone.
    • I found I had to activate sleep mode from the startlingly bright app screen, which a few times actually woke me up sufficiently before bed to lead to nearly a half hour of lost sleep
    • the app has been improved to better illustrate sleep data- triple tap to activate activity tagging (fairly new I think)- just.. plain gorgeous
    • It seems like the app works best for iPhone users.
    • The app is not intuitive or user-friendly, and all of the promised link up with the Speedo swim app is so far impossible to figure out
    • I have a free app that works better than the misfit
    • The app isn't great
    • I love the Misfit app for iPhone.
    • Love that I don't have to charge it, and the app is nice
    • Also when you download the app to your smartphone download Misfit Link (appears black) first, even if you don't think you will use it, then download the Misfit App (appears white)
    • The app is good and gives good feedback.
    • The app is terrible and only syncs half the time
    • The app is great, very easy to use
    • I find the app (which is very simple and classic in design) to be very easy to navigate and the recent updates to the app have made it even more user-friendly.
    • an all round healthier and happier life!I'd be interested to know if any other fitness tracker manufacturers show such a keen interest in their customers' fitness! Finally, there is also a Misfit app available for the Pebble Time smart
    • The app is straightforward to use and can interface with several other exercise apps and aggregators to provide a comprehensive overview of calorie intake and burn.
    • I have used it with both Iphone and Android devices, and the app for both is excellent.
    • The app is great and I love the look.
    • The Misfit team has been upgrading it and every upgrade makes the app more helpful, more user friendly, and just better to look at.-Waterproof
    • The App is lousy as well.
    • I love the style of this thing and the app, but I've had it for more than 6 months
    • Tricky software app and hardware interface operation
    • The misfit app improved and they frequently updated it.
    • If you're interested in how the activity tracker looks (it's beautiful) and you want to wear it EVERYWHERE and have a great app, then get the Misfit Shine.
    • The app is user friendly and easy to use.
    • The app has a glitch where I can't send an error report
    • but this is easy to edit on the Misfit phone app.
    • The app is way cool.
    • However, I have been able to compensate for this by using My Fitness Pal in conjunction with the Shine app
    • I love the app and everything about this.
    • However, the app crashed a fair amount on my Motorola droid mini.
    • The app is also pretty good
    • The misfit does was it is says and the app is easy to use
    • And the app is definitely not that intuitive that you can go without one
    • It works well with the misfit app
    • However, the app and device both have serious flaws, so you'll need to make your own choices, especially if you use an Android phone.1
    • The app is awful, it never syncs on the first try and often times when it syncs somehow all your activity for the day is deleted
    • The Bad - my Shine used to sync perfectly and then they "upgraded" (read downgraded) the app
    • It has evolved and become a really great app
    • so feel sorry for anyone who is not tech savvy trying to deal with Misfit help department, vague instructions and user-unfriendly app.
    • and I often forget I am wearing it.-The app just keeps getting better
    • The app is easy to use, it's easy to sync, and it lets me know how many steps I've taken, and gives me a general idea of my sleep cycle.
    • The app is moderately intuitive and easy to use.
    • Great tracker, amazing battery life, great app, terrible strap though
    • The app is not easy to navigate.
    • First, I wish the Android App was as good as the Apple App
    • It was some what challenging to sync the misfit app with other apps such as my fitness
    • There were no pinpoint holes in the uppercase to allow the light to be visible or sync device with iPhone or iPad 3 using the Misfit Shine App downloaded from the Apple App Store
    • Have to have a newer phone to use the Misfit app to sync progress
    • I really like how it motivates me through an amazing app that lets me track goals and nudges me in the right direction
    • The android app has gotten better as they made updates
    • The product worked well while I owned it and the app was easy to use
    • I use misfit app with pebble smart watch, but for a stable sleep monitor I'm considering buy one...
    • App:The Shine has a very thin app.
    • it is easy to use and the app is very user friendly.
    • I have linked the Misfit app with the MyFitnessPal app and between the two have lost 40 pounds this year
    • I see there are apps for finding low bluetooth devices, but they're not free, meaning I'd need to pay for one of these apps "just in case" since I usually don't have a signal on hiking trails to download apps - the Misfit app does have a "show my
    • After a year, my faith was rewarded and the app is now pretty useful and the data syncs with MyFitnessPal (which is huge) and other apps as well
    • However, there are opportunities to improve the app and syncing.
    • The apps is a hassle.
    • App and synching - works very well on my iphone 5
    • Easy to setup and use, with a great app for your smart phone.
    • Without a smarter app, this throws off the numbers
    • The Misfit app is basic and easy to use
    • The app is not great and is rarely if ever updated - the company seems to be more focused on launching new products rather than improving what they have.
    • Both apps fill in the gaps in the Shine app and the Shine communicates well with them
    • The App is difficult to understand.
    • Syncs by itself with the nicely designed app, if you have blue tooth turned on.
    • Again, the app is useless
    • When I direct the misfit app to sync, it tries for awhile, and then gives an error message that the misfit has stopped working
    • We have identified a bug that's interrupting syncing process in our Misfit app version 2.4.0
    • They've created a wonderful app that works perfectly on my iPhone
    • The app is worthless
    • Even if you download Shine App, the app doesn't find your device with bluetooth as a misfit shine
    • Even if you download Shine App, the app doesn't find your device with bluetooth as a misfit shine

    • The Misfit app is very user-friendly and easy to use
    • The Misfit App is sleek and intuitive, making it easy to check your activity and sleep stats at a glance
    • The one point that's better about the Shine app is that it uses "activity points" rather than steps in order to count whether you've reached your goal.
    • App is very user friendly.
    • and it tells me my steps, calories and miles within the Misfit App
    • I have been using my Misfit Shine for about a year now and it works great, I can keep track of my exercise and sleep as well as use it with other apps like
    • They are improving their app and it's getting really good

    • The app is available for iOS or Android devices
    • I think the app is user friendly and easy to use and install
    • The app works pretty well and the step tracker seemed to be pretty accurate
    • The app works pretty well and the step tracker seemed to be pretty accurate
    • - complained to Misfit customer service and they sent me a new band no questions asked.*Is a simple product - so it doesn't tell you heart rate or know what type of activity you are doing - you will have to tell the app if you were swimming or playing tennis; however it does have some measure of intensity (i.e. walking v. running) and will give you more "points"* Point system is difficult to understand - the misfit app doesnt track based on steps but translates it into their own point system
    • I tried all of the suggested methods - repeatedly rebooted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the Misfit Shine app, removed and reinserted the Shine battery, turned off Bluetooth and turned back on
    • Sometimes I had to reinstall the Misfit app.
    • This was better for me than the Misfit app because I do mixed martial arts (kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which are not included in the UP categories or the Misfit categories)
    • The app kept messing up with it to the point that it frustrated her so much she gave up on using it
    • The Android app is very slow and on
    • The app is easy to use, and allows input of additional exercise
    • And while we're talking, Fit Bit's app is more attractive and tracks food too.
    • The Misfit Android app successfully synchs about 25% of the time
    • MFP is not my favorite fitness app (I like the livestrong app better), they do work together very well
    • When I fiddled around enough to get to a login, the misfit web-site rejects the password that my misfit app accepts, and it shows a little alert that I should set a password, and then goes back to the annoying slide show
    • The app for Android has improved since I first purchased the device
    • the app works great and keeps you updated
    • I have linked my misfit app with myfitness pal app, I love the way it integrates the data between the 2 apps so I can monitor my food and movement together.
    • If in the future I get a smartwatch by another manufacturer, chances are Misfit will have a free app on that platform
    • App crashes all the time
    • The app for the misfit on my iphone is good and I have had no problem linking it to other apps and my insurance providers wellness program
    • The app - not completely user friendly - it was hard to find some things at first.
    • The App works correctly when it wants to
    • They basically send you an email once your battery is shown as low in the Misfit app offering you a replacement battery - I haven't had to buy a new battery yet
    • The app - not completely user friendly - it was hard to find some things at first.
    • The app is easy to use.
    • , it's cool, the app will "dim it for you"... to the exact same brightness

    • I have been using the misfit app with a pebble on iphone for a couple of years
    • The app is a trash on Android
    • By the way, you can put an UP app on your phone that does not require a Jawbone device to be synced to it if you'd like to try the app out before deciding on a tracking device
    • The app was great.
    • Second, in order to gain complete situational awareness health and fitness of our efforts, we wanted a device that would easily synchronize with one of the better diet/weight loss apps available in the world of Android
    • I had no trouble connecting it to both the Misfit app and the MyFitnessPal app
    • The app is easy to use, the device tracks different activities as well as sleep.
    • The app is basically useless as it pools all your activities into points not miles etc
    • App support; if you have an iOS device, the app has many more features than the Android and Windows app
    • I don't think that the sleep tracking is as accurate as the Fitbit, and the Misfit app needs a whole lot of enhancements to compete with that
    • I like the app for this activity band a
    • i like the look of it, most people just see it as a watch and the whole world doesn't need to know if i made my step goal, if i'm counting my steps, or if i'm trying to drop a pound or two (and failing as usual)I linked the misfit app to
    • The step tracking seems accurate and the app makes it easy to load and track your steps and progress
    • Pros: looks, app connectivity to other apps, attractive app, good customer service responseCons
    • no problem! The app is great, and they are continuing to upgrade it.
    • Then open up the Misfit app and sync.
    • several tries to sync with phone; each attempt taking 5-10 minutes turning phone, wifi and bluetooth off and on several times.*app: not easy to follow- the point system is ridiculously complicated*the progress meter on device is vague (albeit charmingly sparkly); you must sync with phone to see actual steps
    • The android app doesn't work more than half the time.
    • The UP app was much better.
    • I know it sounds petty, but looking at those days in my Misfit app and seeing that I don't get any points for yoga, and that I might not have met my activity goal for the day is disheartening
    • I do think the app is not as intuitive as it could be, but in general just follow the instructions and be careful and things should work
    • I checked the Misfit app, I found random activities would appear for times when I wasn't active.
    • The Misfit app is very user-friendly and easy to use

    • Very unhelpful as by then you have to start trying to sync all over again
    • My only criticism is that it pops out of the wrist band and it very easy to lose (as you will see from other reviews)
    • Ok, so I tried just now and it worked as it should, showing progress and then time
    • After reading the numerous reviews and looking at other activity monitors I decided to go with the Misfit Shine as I wanted something that would integrate with my business clothing, provide accurate readings for activities, monitor my sleep cycle, and I really wanted something that was waterproof.
    • It's so much more stylish than a FitBit, as well as being cheaper.-Accuracy
    • This is by far my favorite fitness tracker I've tried both for the sleek fit and comfort as well as for accuracy
    • Its just as accurate as when I walk or run
    • A few times it worked as it should, tap twice, show progress
    • As per other reviews I feel the device is let down by the poor design/quality of the strap which I very rapidly learned not to trust as it doesn't secure the Shine safely
    • The item doesn't work as it will not hold a charge.
    • I bought the so-called "Speedo" version of Shine from Misfit site directly in Sep as soon as it's available, and was highly expecting it
