• Reviews around signal (3.25 of 5)

Mohu Sky 60 TV Antenna, Outdoor, Amplified, 75 Mile Range, Durable Lightweight, Mount Kit Included, Roof or Attic, 4K-Ready, 30 Foot Detachable Cable, Premium Materials for Performance, MH-110585

    • While Mohu says the amplifier has some special tweaks, in general you're better off getting a decent signal in the first place, rather than trying to amplify a signal that's too weak.
    • I am located in an area where I am very limited in receiving a good signal from one of the two "available" stations
    • I did a little research and decided to combine a couple of antennas to see if this would enhance the signal
    • Thought I was spending more to get the best signal
    • Good signal
    • One local channel goes from the best possible signal to the weakest possible signal
    • This antenna is large enough to pick up a good signal for many locations, and includes the hardware needed for most installs
    • After spending about 30 minutes to install this on my roof and another hour of adjustment, I still was not able to get a decent signal for a single channel
    • because of distance and topography, even with integral amplifier, signal was weak.
    • After filtering out the Spanish language stuff I was left with 17 strong signals including all the major networks and PBS.I almost never return Amazon
    • and I'm receiving outstanding signals
    • Guess it's time for me to get something up onto my roof this spring to get a more solid signal
    • It pulls in more stations with better signal strength than the old high gain external antenna.
    • However, if your signals are strong (or if you don't know and are just starting out), you might want to first try the Monoprice $20 antenna.
    • One caveat - channels from broadcast towers that are 60+ miles away can experience significant signal impairment during adverse weather (heavy rain, low clouds, snow).Net result is this... channels within the 60 mi range are now rock solid
    • After countless hours of trying to get the best signal, eventually gave up and went with the Mohu Leaf Ultimate 65
    • Every room gets strong signal.
    • Sometimes some of the fringe channels lose their signal, but not the main networks
    • The signal was solid and the picture was perfect.
    • and I don't lose the signal when the afternoon rainstorms
    • Signal looks better than cable
    • May work fine for strong signals coming from one direction, but our location is surrounded by trees with signals coming from two directions
    • I originally ordered the Mohu leaf, but I wasn't able to maintain a consistent signal without moving it constantly from wall to wall, so I exchanged it for the Mohu Sky.
    • Gets great signal--mine is roof mounted.
    • When I first bought this I had such faith that this was going to bring us more channels and clearer signals from the channels we were already receiving from the Leaf Ultimate (another Mohu product)
    • After adjusting the direction and height a bit, I got all the channels perfectly with very stable signal strength, including Fox(KTVU), KRON, CBS, ABC, KQED, NBC, plus many other local channels
    • I looked online for where most of the network towers are and faced it in that general direction... immediately got a strong signal, I turned it just a bit more and got 100% signal on most of the 30 channels it found (according to the signal info reported by my Samsung Smart TV).
    • I put this antenna in my attic and split the signal between two televisions.
    • Part of this is that various roofing materials, especially asphalt shingles, hold moisture long after the actual rain has passed and that residual moisture can absorb significant signal strength before it reaches the antenna
    • It does improve the signal somewhat, and reduces the number of disruptions in the signal
    • I replaced a directional antenna (constantly having to go out and turn to find the signal and often would loose it all together) that claimed an 80 mile range with this one
    • In other words, if that little USB power block fails or if the adapter fails, signals are completely blocked.
    • Hooked this up to where the cable came in, split between 6 TV's and the signal is fine.
    • Still looses signal more than it should.
    • That being said this is still a antenna so sometimes the signals are sketchy and drop, like a cell phone
    • You still have to walk around the attic to find a good signal
    • It did not improve our signal.
    • Note, that I disconnected power to the internal amplifier because with both on, signal was poor.
    • its on a houseboat and when the wind blows and moves the boat SLIGHTLY it loses signal
    • Because reception of weak signals is difficult, I also recommend using a TV/set top box that gives some indication of the receive signal strength (like a mobile device shows WiFi signal strength).
    • In addition, I have on occasion picked up a couple of low power signals in our area and, when atmospheric conditions are right, signals from cities well beyond the normal 70 miles range
    • SIGNAL IS BETTER THAN AMPLIFICATION:
    • I purchased this review with the intent of supplying a great TV signal to all of the TV's in my house for the sole purpose of cutting off the dish service.
    • I am about 35 miles from the TV broadcast antennas; signal is excellent during the winter months, but not perfect during the summer due to the number of tree leaves on our property, that interfere with the signal.
    • My only complaint is a standard complaint with anything that you put on your roof, sometimes the signal is interrupted and comes in spotty
    • star). While the Mohu Sky can receive strong broadcast signals without pointing, weaker signals will require careful pointing if you are to receive them.
    • Despite the documentation that came with the antenna, it was not a non-directional antenna, and I couldn't align it so that I received a good signal from both directions
    • We still lose signal at times during snow or rain storms
    • If the signals around you are weak and the towers are in multiple directions, this antenna might not fair too well.
    • I knew the signal wasn't decent and needed another 10 mile radius to reach the PBS stations.
    • It is amplified, and for good signal strength, does require this to be powered up.
    • A total of 16 channels are available in the area and all of these channels were accessible and showed no signs of weak signal or digital noise.
    • While the DB4 had a stronger signal in any one direction, it pretty much eliminated all signal from the other
    • My experience is that it does have to be pointed in the direction of the transmitters of the stations you want and then the stations transmitting from the other direction will have a weakened signal
    • only problem is one of the network station's must not have as stable a signal
    • I ended up returning this as the uglier, but much cheaper GE antenna paired with my existing amplifier offered vastly superior signal strength
    • I live in a very strong signal area where I can actually see the antenna towers from my house
    • star). While the Mohu Sky can receive strong broadcast signals without pointing, weaker signals will require careful pointing if you are to receive them.
    • I used the Home Depot antenna with 2 tv's at the same time and the signals were great
    • Like the large CM 4228, it could also partially pull in both towers when pointed in between (but not well enough for a consistent signal), and could pull in one of the towers just fine.
    • Wow, my signals were 3 times stronger with a cheap antenna with no amplifier
    • Some channels are duplicates and others have weak signal, but the majority are perfect
    • I am about 35 miles from the TV broadcast antennas; signal is excellent during the winter months, but not perfect during the summer due to the number of tree leaves on our property, that interfere with the signal.
    • I was able to get a decent signal on only four channels, and couldn't even detect the CBS, NBC, or FOX broadcasts
    • I can't use the amp, because it losses signal.
    • I then split the signal with a two way splitter, running one to the TV in the master bedroom and the other to the garage via the existing line in the master
    • The thing has been delivered a strong signal in all but the worst weather conditions, picking up all the local expected channels and then some
    • After mounting and locking down, the next channel scan picked up that station with excellent signal strength and quality
    • No more signal dropouts
    • I purchased the item August 5th, did not get the signals I was hoping to get, and the part where u attached the coaxial cable too fell from the antenna
    • I recommend a ChannelMaster hi-gain amplifier to improve the signal.
    • Because reception of weak signals is difficult, I also recommend using a TV/set top box that gives some indication of the receive signal strength (like a mobile device shows WiFi signal strength).
    • Obviously this isn't cable and you'll have to play around with antenna location and rescan with your TV a few times to get the best signal, but you just have to be willing to put the work in to find out what works best for you and your setup
    • The amplifier improves the signal somewhat in most locations.
    • When the amp is located inside the home near the TV, it amplifies a weaker signal after it has lost some gain in the long coax run.
    • Side note: Unlike what the manufacture claims, this antenna is somewhat 'directional' in fringe reception areas (Actually that is good in my opinion) you may have to point this antenna facing the towers for better signal strength
    • It could even pick up the tv station 30 miles away with a good signal
    • Works great got 6 tvs hooked up all have great signals and really great picture.
    • That being said this is still a antenna so sometimes the signals are sketchy and drop, like a cell phone
    • The company was quick to respond to my request for assistance, but they said the terrain was hindering the signal.
    • according to mohu, my area (specific address) is known to have interference and thus I never received all channels or clear signals
    • During severe weather (rain) signals can be lost due to blockage
    • Amazing signal strength and the picture is simply superb
    • After hours of barely turning it in small turns, I can get a fair ABC signal; sometimes it still glitches and stops working
    • " (OTA) free DTV / HDTV signals is always quite a challenge
    • FIRMLY INSTALL YOUR ANTENNA: Vibration, rocking or other movement is the enemy of a good HDTV signal, so try to install your antenna as firmly as possible.
    • I previously had installed an antenna in the attic, with not very impressive results, could only get the channels with the strongest transmission signals, even then I would get pixilation and often loose the signal.
    • I had it installed at my old place by a handyman, and the one thing about this particular antenna is you do need to ensure you mount it as high as possible in a location with a clear path to the sky to get a good signal.
    • When I had the old one up on the roof I was using a rather long piece of coax cable and it does not seem to degrade the signal
    • I'm getting clear signal on all channels.
    • Set them all up facing their respective towers, then combined all of the signals into a 4 into 1 splitter/combiner *after the amplifier* for each respective antenna (for reference see the "RF SPLITTER INSTALLATION" page at the back of the manual - at the "CONNECT RF SPLITTER HERE" section, just reverse the cables so that you're feeding two (or more) signals into one source instead of splitting the signal to two different sources). These antennas are exceptional and really deserve a look
    • This was my second attempt at a Mohu device to bring in better digital signals
    • If the signals around you are fairly strong, this antenna will likely work fine and appear "multi-directional."
    • Great signal from my location about 40 miles northeast of Dallas can pick up over 90 stations.
    • I'm just curious if anyone else has tried a comparison like this or if the antenna just works great for them because they're at a good location with strong signals?
    • I am in a farm area no trees or obstructions nearby placed as high as the inside wall allows and in different places corners heights really wanted this to pull in more and stabilize signals without having to get something for the
    • I may actually do this to my Sky 60 for better signal.
    • There are times I loose the signal on some of the channels, but then I am trying to get channels from 30 to 50 plus miles away, plus with atmosphere changes and conditions also effect signals at that distant
    • The antenna preformed better than advertised but weather conditions hindered constant signal level.
    • Mediocre signal strength and one channel that dropped out a lot.
    • I am getting a power splitter to boost the channels signal to my other two rooms.
    • - the brackets seemed a little on the light side but after installation it doesn't move in the wind and holds the signal well
    • The amplifier adds about 5-10% more signal but it will not magically improve a bad signal.
    • I tried the LEAF first (even after reading the FCC website that told me I had bad signal) and it didn't work
    • Bottom line: buy a much cheaper directional UHF antenna, point it directly at the broadcasting tower, and boost the signal with an amplifier
    • If the signals around you are fairly weak but the towers are virtually in one direction from your place, this antenna will probably work great for you.
    • We have split the signal to three televisions and none have experienced any type of issue with signal quality
    • I think that it relies on strong signals to overcome its directionality, and I just don't have that at my house
    • I set it in my living room window thinking that if it did not get any signal from there the chances of it picking up adequate signal in my attic were slim to none.
    • The clarity was great on the Mohu Ultimate leaf, however I found rather than hang it, with the pins, it was easier to move the antennae to pick up the weaker signals.
    • Plugging it into another USB brick didn't really improve the signal by much, but it at least worked
    • I was a little concerned with the fact that some of the major networks were in opposite directions and that one or two would have weak signals.
    • I have spend the past few months trying to get a clear signal from stations that are within 10 miles of my house and have had nothing but issues trying to get a good signal.
    • Installed in my attic and connected up to three TV's and they all get great signal.
    • They were stored in my converter, but there was no picture and only the "Weak signal" message stating that I should reposition the antenna.
    • I replaced old antenna and this did not improve the signal.
    • Been getting a great signal with this antenna
    • The signal meter on the TV shows excellent reception and a solid signal.
    • no rotating for the best signal----Nothing
    • and I was worried about that hurting the signal as well
    • Half are unwanted but the signal is great
    • A coworker also recommended to me that I buy a powered coax splitter to boost my signal a bit to the TVs, since my connection is split 8 ways in my
    • I also split the signal to 2 TVs and the signal is strong on both.
    • The next morning half of the stations wouldn't come in due to poor signal.
    • Mine seems to pick up my local stations in 4 different directions with a good signal.
    • Picked up more channels and stronger signal than others I tried
    • Moved this thing all over my attic in all different areas/placements/different wires and couldn't get a consistent signal
    • After moving the antenna around a bit and re-testing, the interference dropped a bit and the signal was a little more stable, but it still wasn't as it should
    • For the other tower, though, this Sky antenna would crush it because it gets much better signal strength.
    • Well to my surprise, the signal was amazing
    • Received some local stations but there was to much loss of signal and digital breakup/freezing
    • and I was able to pull in a good signal strength.
    • If you are looking to boost your signal, go with a pre-amp next to your Amazon antenna
    • Perplexingly, sometimes the stronger signal was with the long edge pointing at the broadcast antenna (as in a LPDA antenna) and sometimes it was with being perpendicular
    • I also split the signal to 2 TVs and the signal is strong on both.
    • The antenna was the size recommended at antenna.org, highly directional and very difficult to set up, the slightest change in direction would cause me to loose the signal from the few stations that I could get
    • And by fluctuates I mean while sitting staring at the strength meter for 60 seconds or 5 minutes it bounces up and down, never registering a steady signal strength.
    • and I was worried about that hurting the signal as well
    • We are located in a bit of a natural valley surrounded by trees, but our signal still came in very well after tweaking
    • Save a few bucks and get a better signal.
    • The amplifier does boost signal strength, but if you have signal drop problems with channels, it may or may not help
    • The antenna isn't even picking up strong signals at 20 miles.
    • A lower mount did not provide good signal strength, moving to a height of
    • Although that is the case I had to find the "sweet spot" that was at a slight angle to the wall (vertically) in order to be able to get the best signal from 2 opposing broadcast towers.
    • ha ha - so they split the signal to the four TVs, and all are working beautifully.
    • If you have a good "Line-Of-Sight to the station towers, you might get good signals at 20 miles.
    • I am using it for 3 TVs (hooked it into an existing Dish connection) and the signal is strong enough for all 3.
    • I had seen someone online indicate that the direction which the antenna was facing made a difference, but they did not indicate which part of the antenna should point at the towers for the best signal
    • After a few attempts decide to returned , there is no signal at all and the: 1-855-446-6648 , is not working from PR.
    • Once I get all set up, I will try splitting the signal to use an existing coax in the master bedroom
    • But i get an excellent signal and pick up all the stations in my area
    • Thank G-D!
    • On a good day we also receive FOX-8 out of Cleveland, which we never got with the Clearstream, which was really appreciated as we were able to watch the World Series.
    • Sadly, outside we ran into the same problem (though not as bad) as with the previous antenna, leading us to believe that the issue is the 50-year wiring in our house.
    • I really feel as if I were ripped off with this purchase, and because I bought it for my uncle's birthday, I can't even return it because I am past the 30 day, I will see about getting my CC to remove it, this thing is as cheap and flimsy as it gets and at this price I could have bought something pretty nice
    • It does not receive vhf as strong as
