If you use a pen that is too heavy on the ink, the ink will bleed through on the other side of the page making it hard to go back and read what you've written.

really disappointed especially because i paid $20 for this when i could’ve gotten a $5 one from michael’s.. the pages are very smooth but almost any ink bleeds really bad

Typically, I try to find books with thick, but smooth paper as I do a lot of sketches and handlettering mostly with fine rollerball ink pens and other fine tip pens like microns

Also, the ink smudges very easily unlike the black version

As others have noted, pages are very thin, and while I haven't had much issue with bleed-through, I do notice that the paper doesn't absorb ink fast enough which leads to a lot of smudging and blurring

If you use super inky fountain pens, then the ink might bleed through the pages, but if not, then you're good to go!

For dense ink work, two pages can be quickly pasted together using a Scotch 3M permanent glue stick or similar to create a nice thick "plate" that won't bleed thru with india inks or Copic markers.

I have used gel pens to write in these types of journals and I haven't noticed any transferring or the ink bleeding through the page.
