The phone holder is flat with a half inch external margin so the size of the phone and holder on the arm is 1 inch greater in width and height
I have not had any difficulty operating the phone app through the plastic film and though I have not used the key slot, the one for ID is the perfect size.

I do some upper body weight work and it doesn't work for mr, but it could be useful and a good value for people whose exercise doesn't involve a lot of arm flexion.

The only drawback is that the credit card slot material is rather thin and gets a bit tattered rather quickly although not loose enough to drop any cards when running.
